Last week’s results:
Yokels 5, Kings 1: Jeff Hurst and Jeffrey Womack each had two for Yokels. Hurst now has 19 points, including 11 assists.
Misfits 5, Stickmen 1: Ben Ferrell, playing in his first game of the season, scored the hat trick for Misfits. Don Hurt stopped 22 of 23 shots.
Wolverines 4, Phantoms 3: Bobby Sirkis scored the winner with 15 seconds left. Assists went to Jeff Blake and Brian Kapalka. Cory Howard had tied it 3-3 less than a minute earlier with his second goal of the game, giving the improving Phantoms hope for their first victory.
Blue Devils 3, Ice Dogs 2: Mark Johnson scored his second goal with six seconds left as the BDs topped the Ice Dogs. Jim Koehler, who scored the other Blue Devils goal, got the winning assist. Terry Redmon was stellar, stopping 26 of 28 shots.
Beerflyers 6, Hitmen 3: Chris Ratzer had a pair of goals for the Beerflyers. Brian Ratzer added three assists.
Hockey Team 15, Mid Cities 1: Please clear children from the room before reading about this R-rated massacre. … Erik Anderson had four goals and an assist. Nick Strobel had four more. Several others had multi-point games. The shorthanded and Slezak-less Mid-Cities squad was outshot … 49-15. Ouch. Can't blame it on the goalie, who shall remain nameless. And now, a hot sports opinion: You have to wonder about the sportsmanship in this one. HT scored five in the third period, which they entered leading 10-0. Two of those goals were unassisted, which indicates a breakaway goal. We’ve been involved in blowouts where the winning team did a lot of passing in the third period. Did that happen here? We’re just asking …
