Rumor has it ...

We have it on good authority that one of the finer local newspapers (www.DallasNews.com) is doing a story on the growth of the Great Sport in our burgeoning metropolis (especially since the Stars arrived).

We also are given to understand the story will focus on our little rink in Euless and its little hockey program. The reporter interviewed Knute and watched two D-League games last night: Hockey Team vs. Beerflyers (Beerflyers won in a shootout, 5-4) and Misfits vs. Kings (Misfits win 5-3).

Expect the story in the next few days. And, no, we had/have nothing to do with it, ethically speaking.

Kings 5, Phantoms 4: Mike Sullivan completed his hat trick with the game winner in the third period.
Hitmen 7, Hockey Team 2: Chris Gallagher had two goals and Linda Mason three assists in this upset of the first place Hockey Team.
Wolverines 5, Misfits 4: Jason Isham scored the game-winner in the last minute of overtime.

Note: The Blue Devils vs. Beerflyers game on Sunday was postponed because the rink was double-booked. A rescheduled match is being negotiated.

More Morning Hockey

We know many of you don't like to wake up until the sun is warm -- say, about 1 o'clock -- but for the early birds among us, another morning drop-in has been arranged. Starting Feb. 7, there will be an adult drop-in from 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. each Wednesday at DPSC Farmers Branch.

There are now morning drop-ins at Farmers Branch on Fridays (7 a.m.-8:45 a.m.) and at Euless on Sundays (starts anywhere from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.; check the calendar). Both games are well-attended pretty much every week. (Occasionally too well-attended.)

So ... Stars honcho and all-around good guy Keith Andresen agreed to institute the Wednesday FB game on popular demand.
