Scoring leaders: After Five Games

*A note about stats: Players accumulate stats by team. That is, if you play for more than one team, you have a stat line for each team. Stats are compiled according to official scoresheets. Any mistakes, misapplied goals, misspellings or omissions are due to incomplete or inaccurate scoresheets or poor scorekeeper penmanship. (Like, for example, sometimes we can't read it.) We report what they report. If your name is misspelled, leave a comment and it will be corrected. In other words, this process is like hand grenades; we're just trying to get it in the vicinity. And, remember dude: It's only I-league, but we like it. -- The management.

Week 5: Stickmen Survive

Goalie Steve McCollister got his second straight shutout as the Stickmen kept their perfect season alive with a physical 1-0 victory over the Ice Holes. Alex Eysermans scored for Stickmen; assists went to Ed Vogel and Glenn Listman. Ice Holes goalie David Giesecke had a decent game, too, stopping 15 of 16 shots.

In other games:

  • Brewzers 2, Snipers 1: Milton Highfill and Andy Thomas scored for the Brewzers. Both were assisted by Kenny Fain. Kerry Brown scored for the Snipers, assisted by Kyle Largent.
  • Wolverines 6, Phantoms 2: Greg Mersbarger scored twice and Bobby Sirkis added a goal and assist for the Wolverines. Greg Hunt had a goal and an assist for the Phantoms.
  • Patriots 1, Spiders 1 (tie): Our first tie of the season. Patriots' forward Josh Piccirillo evened the score with 3:08 left on a Butch Hutchison assist. Andrew Patti scored for the Spiders.
  • Blue Devils 2, Stingers 0: Goalie Mike Redmon had another strong game in net (perfect on 20 shots), and the BD's got goal and assist from Patrick Green. David Ogle also scored. Mike Drago and Jon Cramer had assists. Rock Workman had a big nothing on the night, as he convalesced his twisted knee at home. We're just busting balls, Rock.
  • Fugaweez 2, Redrum 1: Carl Maser beat goalie Jon Ellis in the shootout to lift Fugaweez. Derek Tillemans also scored for the Fugaweez, and Chuck Dolbee added an assist. Robert Peck scored unassisted for the shorthanded Redrummers, who went again with a roster of 10. Before the shootout, Ellis had stopped 25 of 26. Tough break.
  • Puckers 9, Spuds 6: Jonathan Patten, Brian Lockhas and Rob Constantine each scored a pair in this scorefest. Other goals for Puckers: Mike Stephen, Scott Dolbee, Dallas Lehr. Puckers with assists: Chuck Dolbee, Mike Vogel, Lehr, Brian Cubaback and Constantine. The spunky (but, alas, winless) Spuds got a hat trick from Brett Royal and goals from Gerrod Copper, Ken Barr and Mark Widmann. Assists: Barr, Royal, Copper. Hang in there, lads. You look better every week.
