I league: Week 4 Preview...Swami Returns...

Some games this weekend look like decent showdowns...we were able to get ahold of Swami. He was feeling rather apocalyptic....oh my...

Wolverines vs Snipers: 7:45pm (Gold)
*Snipers don’t want to go 0-4.
Swami Says: Beware the Wolverines; they are as quick as a serpent and vicious as a lion.

Ice Holes vs Spiders: 9pm (Gold)
*Spiders could find themselves in the top 2 if things play out right.
Swami Says: The eight legged beast shalt arise and walk upon the earth. There was weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Stingers vs Stickmen: 10pm (Green)
*Stickmen are trying to do what the phantoms did last season. So far, they are off to a good start.
Swami Says: He who is first shall remain first

Komets vs Brewzers: 10:15pm (Gold)
*Will the Komets bounce back from their humiliation last week?
Swami Says: Behold, I saw a Great Ball of Fire to the East, it descended upon the earth and destroyed a third of mankind.

Blue Devils vs Fugaweez: 11:15pm (Green)
*I league Game of the Night
*Both teams coming off big wins last week. This should be fun to watch.
Swami Says: And the Devil went forth and conquered the land, many women were sold into captivity.

Patriots vs True.com: 11:30pm (Gold)
*Patriots try to get back on the winning side, while true.com tries for the upset.
Swami Says: The Third Trumpet sounded and a great slaughter ensued.

Shockers vs Puckers: 12:30am (Green)
*Sunday Morning Hockey at its finest.
Swami Says: Merkin…..

UPDATED SCHEDULE

And, lastly, a new schedule is out, made necessary by the withdrawal of the Panthers. (Anyone know why they quit?) To see the new schedule, issued last night by Knute, click on the following links:

CHANGES FROM LAST SCHEDULE ARE IN YELLOW

For November

For December and January

For February

For March

For April and May

It's Not the Stanley Cup, but ...

It's not exactly the Stanley Cup, but it's ours. Following this month's 7-1 victory over Grapevine in the fourth Grapevine/Euless I-League Death Match, Komets' coordinator Bruce Frankel turned the victor's beer keg (which had been full, by the way ... hmmm) into this doozy of a perpetual trophy.

Replied Grapevine coordinator Steve Kaeppel: "We look forward to winning it back!"

Replied Euless I-Leaguers (now 4-0 in the series): Um, we don't think so. -- BC

Week 3: I League

Games this weekend were memorable....

Fugaweez 2 Patriots 1
The I League Game of the Night, was just as everything it promised to be. This was a Friggin Hockey Game.
Pats saw the return of John Ellis to the net, and it almost was a glorious return for the Sultan of Saves. The Patriots struck first with a goal from Jeff Vaughn. It didn’t last to long as the Fugs struck back on a Dallas Lehr goal. Checking and Hitting was an often occurrence in this one. The Fugaweez then lit the lamp on Lehr's VERY CONTROVERSIAL second goal of the night late in the 3rd for the 2-1 win. The Pats, who were missing several key players, were baffled by random skate breakages as well as stick snappage, not to mention sheer exhaustion from the “Checking THUGaweez", almost pulled off the win. The Fugs hadn’t really faced anyone this season who was a “Keg Contender” but they showed their stuff proudly Saturday night.
Fear the Fugaweez.
But Tremble at the Pissed Off Patriots.

True.com 4 Shockers 3
This was a see-saw battle between two teams looking for their first ever win. True.com took a 2-0 lead into the 2nd when the Shockers answered with two of their own from Jason Howell and Nate Hodges. Both teams then traded strikes: David Benson for True.com and Bryan Voskuil for the Shockers, to go into the 3rd tied at 3-3. It wasn’t until midway through the 3rd, True.com got the game winning goal from Benson, the guy had 2 goals and an assist on the night.

Stickmen 4 Puckers 1
This game got out of hand early, with a quick 3-0 Stickmen lead. Puckers managed a shorthanded goal from Kevin Luechenhoff, but couldn’t hit the twine the rest of the night. Alex Exermans. Tim James, Ed Vogle, and Jim O’Reilly had the goals for the undefeated stickmen.

Blue Devils 8 Komets 1
Wow.
Well, the Komets’ Cinderella story was trampled upon rather harshly with a solid Blue Devils win. Scoring for the Blue Devils….Dan Glein had the hat trick, Dave Logging scored twice, while Clint Wacker, James Deboro, and Terry Neuman also lit the lamp. Komets tried to rally in the second trailing 3-0 with a goal from Dustin Nation, but the spunky komets just couldn’t get the bounces.

Wolverines 5 Brewzers 1
Dallas Lehr wasn’t exactly done when he finished his Fugaweez game. He came right back and buried Four more during the Wolverines smothering of the undefeated brewzers (we hope the statsheet is correct). What the heck man!? The loan Brewzers goal from Lori-Kay Fromman (SP!!!).

Spiders 3 Snipers 2
Penatlies abounded from the Snipers, apparently, hooking was the Refs favorite call of the night. The Spiders struck once in the first then twice in the second, goals coming from Chris Gallagher, Chrisi Shere and Aurin Manalo. While the winless Snipers, who fought viciously, got goals from Alex Eysermans and Jesse Henderson.

Ice Holes 5 Stingers 4 (Shoot Out?)
Rumor has it this game went deep into the shootout…14 Freaking Shooters to be exact...The Scoresheet was incomplete. We don’t even know who got the 4th goals for both sides, not to mention who had the Shootout goal……we look to our loyal readers to provide us with something…We do know that there were 13 penatlies in this game….geez. Scoring on the night (from what we have) for the Stingers: “Roland”, illegible, and Josh Briscoe. Ice Holes goals from Mike Skupien, Jared Junker, and Steve Junker.
