Game 1 results, summaries
From April 15:
Stingers 3, Snipers 2 (shootout): Jason Isham scored in the league’s first shootout to lift the Stingers in their debut game. Stingers’ Alex Seabaugh forced the extra period with his goal at 6:07 of the third. Greg Carter also scored for Stingers. Snipers got goals from David Counce and Kyle Largent. Roger Bishop had an assist.
Brewzers 3, Blue Devils 1: Jamil Jabril scored twice, including an empty-netter in the final minute for the Brewzers, and Andy Thomas had a second-period goal. Todd Smith scored for the Blue Devils on a nifty pass from Patrick Green.
Stickmen 5, Wolverines 4 (shootout): Jason Bergan’s shootout goal lifted the Stickmen over the Wolverines. Wolverines tied the game with four goals in the third period. Goals were by: Brian Bradley, Brian Conner. Robert Sirkis and Josh Piccirillo. Bobby Sirkis had two assists. For Stickmen, Jeff Thomas had two goals. Lynne Young and Alex Eysermans added one apiece. Ken Halford had two assists.
Phantoms 6, Ice Holes 3: Jason Neal had the hat trick plus an assist for the Phantoms in a drubbing of Ice Holes. Jason Isham added two and Cory Howard chipped in a goal and assist. Ice Holes got scores from Greg Hunt, Michael Crook and Phillip Hussay but struggled in front of new goalie David Giesecke, who surrendered the six goals on 22 shots.
REDRUM 6, Spuds 1: Nick McMacken scored twice in his REDRUM debut, while Robert Peck and Daniel Ball each added a goal and three assists. The new Spuds struggled with a short bench and managed only a second-period goal by Mike Breswaham, assisted by Scott Baldree. REDRUM was raining shots on Spuds goalie Brent Bryant: 38 in all.
Patriots 1, Fugaweez 0: Luci Hipes scored on a Heather Gray assist to lift the Patriots over the defending Keg champ Fugaweez. This was a tough defensive game; Patriots took just 10 shots on Fugaweez goalie James Wilcox. Pats’ goalie Jon Ellis was perfect on 17 shots.
Spiders 4, Puckers 0: Linda Mason had a goal and assist for the Spiders. The mysterious Chris N. added a first period goal, and Andrew Patti capped it off with a goal in the final minute. Patti Greco had two assists. There must be some mistake here: Scoresheet shows Puckers took only four shots. Let’s hope that’s a mistake.
