Blue Devils Win Memorial Daze
The Blue Devils swept the Memorial Daze Tournament in Frisco, winning all five of their games by a combined score of 26-3. That was capped by a 5-0 victory in the final against Frisco's Fury. Goalie Mike Redmon closed the tournament with three consecutive shutouts. The team included six Blue Devils, three Wolverines, two Phantoms and four players from Duncanville's I-league Patriots. Way to go, fellas. And way to go, Patrick "Patty the Mouth" Green, who got tossed in the very physical championship game and goofed for the camera in the team pic. Gotta love it. Every team needs a guy like Patrick, eh?
And a tip 'o the cap to the Wolverines, who advanced to the semifinals, including a 5-3 victory over Frisco's Tundra Monkeys in which the Wolverines had no goalie. Rahul Sharma stood in goal and fended them off all night, once going coast to coast for a goal.
