Game 1: BD 3, HT 0

Terry Redmon had an elephantine game in net (thanks, Razor) Thursday night as the underdog Blue Devils defeated Hockey Team 3-0 in Game 1 of the D-League Finals.

The BDs got goals from Chris Price and Mark Johnson, and Eric Hogentogler added an unassisted power play goal at the 3:10 mark in the third period. Redmon was perfect (a "f-in monster," reports one teammate) on 35 HT shots.

HT outshot the BDs 35-21. The scoresheet is here.

Contrary to some of the bad blood on display in this space recently, the game was mostly clean, with good sportsmanship on both sides. Nice job, fellas.

Game 2 in the best-of-3 is Sunday night.

LATE ADDITION:

Some anonymous character sent this cryptic image to Saturday Night Heroes' investigative desk. Are the BDs planning a victory parade? Beware counted chickens, friends.

WOW! This blog is amazing. A team member showed this to me yesterday. (must say I was amazed when I found out that I can use my computer to other things than watching porn, a whole new world opened up).

Great game last night, Blue Devils won in a fair, well played game, lots of fun.

No, ringers will be called up Sunday. #11 Burke Egner will probably play and depending on other guys travel plans or other activities, Scott Skurdalsvold might also play.

I do feel that we should have an other good game Sunday and we'll do what we can to get a couple of pucks behind Terry and force a game 3. If not the beer is still cold at the Crossbar.

Must suck for HT to have to compete with a true D-goalie. Since noone at starcenter gives a shit about what level goalie plays D if I was the HT I would make other plans for their regular goalie on sunday and call in a matching goalie to BD, that would be fun to watch.

Maybe HT isn't the only cheaters...

WHY TO GO BLUE DEVILS

HT played a clean, hard-fought game last night. It was fun playing against them. Looking forward to Sunday.

Mats,

Last nights game was fun, and not just because we won it. Terry was obviuously the best player on the ice.

People can have respect for a team like yours, who all work well together and pass the puck. The problem in the past, is that you have always had a couple guys that were game changers (Ross and the kid). Even though Slezak held back this season, he could also take over the game when needed and shut down the opponents. Plus, he would make sarchastic remarks to the other team about having to play down.

IMHO, you guys never needed the ringers anyway to be an upper echelon 'D' team. Those guys just made you standout unnecessarily as a team.

One of our games last season against you was already a mismatch, when Ross decided to go end-to-end and score by himself around our entire team. For us, that was the turning point in the way we regarded the Hockey Team as a whole.

We completely expect you guys to come out on fire sunday night. Hopefully it will be a fun, clean matchup on both sides.

Not sure what your point is exacty. Terry is a very good goalie and was on fire last night. Statistically, he is always in the upper half of the 'D' league. But, if you are saying he does not belong in the 'D' league, then that is rediculous.

I agree it was a clean hard-fought game with no shenanigans.

Terry takes all three stars as far as I'm concerned. MVP

In regards to the map, nobody from HT would have posted it. We take the shortest route Baby Dolls.

I think that Terry is one of a few goalies who has worked his way up from I-league, started playing in 2004

HT will be at Baby D's tonight (talking strategy)

Like all goalies, Terry has good and bad days. I know for sure he has gotten his ass kicked in I-league a few times in the past couple of years, so I would not say the comments about him being some sort of ringer goalie is fair in the least. I have seen him lead his team in penalty minutes and get kicked out of more than 1 game (think Valley Ranch Terry). Definitely not ringer traits.

Congratulations Terry on getting it done.
