It's HT, BDs in D-League Finals

Hockey Team and Blue Devils will meet in a best-of-3 title series after both prevailed Tuesday night.

The hated (by all but their wives) HTs prevailed in a penalty-marred (more than 20) 6-3 victory over the Misfits. Eric Mask (attempt to injure match penalty) and Scott Skurdalsvold (fighting game misconduct) will miss the finals for their transgressions. Misfits led this one 3-2 near the end of the second period.

The BDs hung three second-period goals on the Yokels in their 4-2 win. Greg Sargent had a goal and an assist. Terry Redmon stopped 29 of 31 shots, not including one from a teammate that almost caught the corner. Yikes.

Game 1 of the finals is Thursday night.

Good luck to both sides.

this is ridiculous, i just looked at the gamesheet on pointstreak-the misfits had THREE game misconducts! Two of them are third man in, and they also have an intent to injure! I don't know how it works in D league, but how can people pretend to take the high road and call the hockey team dirty when it looks like they contribute equally to the chaos? Maybe they're just pissed that they can't beat them.....

Anonymous said...

Go Hockey Team!

Anonymous said...

Who's calling them dirty? BC just points out that two of them are suspended and that the game apparently got chippy. Any of that not true?

Anonymous said...

take a look at the penalty minute leaders in pointstreak, dipstick. five of the top 22 leaders are hockey teamers. the guy accused of intent to injure (don't we all have to go to work in the morning?)was the league leader -- by a margin of 15 minutes. but i guess you're right, they "contribute equally to the chaos."

Go STbD!!

the misfits have 3 in the top ten
ht has two

Anonymous said...

what's more, the guy with an intent to injure for the misfits is second in PIM. I'm just saying it looks like it goes both ways

I heard Hockey Team is moving down to I league

Anonymous said...

heard the I league already had a "hockey team". It is called the Patriots.

thats a joke right?

If anyone from Hockey Team visits these forums, I would love to ask you a few questions:

(1) Don't you get bored from beating up on 'D' teams all the time ? I ask this in all sincerity, because most teams enjoy a good competitive game more than blowing out lesser opponents.

(2) You guys say you can't compete in the 'C' league. Yet, none of your guys show up for the games. You are a 'C' league team that would compete just fine at the 'C' level. Why don't you give it a chance. Really, its not so bad losing once in a while. Go pick up one of our previous ringers and you guys will be a very good 'C' team. It's common knowledge around the StarCenter that most of you guys play in an upper level league at the Parks Mall.

(3) If you want some respect, start showing some to the other teams. Your team is the worst team in the league when it comes to heckling from the bench.

Since these guys never speak out in defense of themselves, I can only assume that they don't give a crap about what anyone else thinks.

Anonymous said...

they're a bunch of dillweeds. the whole league is rooting for the blue devils.

Anonymous said...

The Blue Devils had essentially the same record as the Hockey Team...

Are the Blue Devils going to move up to C League next season?

Anonymous said...

Hockey Team virtually threw games the second half. You guys laid out. Other teams with similar records played balls out to get there. There's a difference. Anyone who has watched this league can see that. So cut it out with the dubious logic.

Anonymous said...

the blu devils played in c last summer and stuck with it even tho they got their asses kicked. ht never tried.

Anonymous said...

I get it now...the Hockey Team is evil, and the Blue Devils all sunshine and puppies?

Oh wait, how about when the Blue Devils recently beat the...

Spartans 9 to 3
Stickmen 7 to 1
Phantoms 7 to 1
Ice Dogs 6 to 1

That was really nice of the Blue Devils to beat the Ice Dogs 6 to 1!

At least the Hockey Team had the decency to go easy on the Ice Dogs and beat them only in a SO.

I bet the Ice Dogs really enjoyed that game, and were glad they weren't playing the Blue Devils again.

Face it, if the Hockey Team should go, so should the Blue Devils.

Anonymous said...

Name one time the Blue Devils have ever won a championship in either D-League or I-League. The answer would be never. They play hard against no matter who they play. BTW, if you look at previous games, Stickmen this season have beaten the Blue Devils. The Phantoms and Ice Dogs are the two worst teams in the League. They have had bigger losses than the ones handed out by the Blue Devils.

Anonymous said...

When the Blue Devils recently beat the...

Spartans 9 to 3
Stickmen 7 to 1
Phantoms 7 to 1
Ice Dogs 6 to 1

..did they win by "virtually threw games" like the Hockey Team? Or, were they played balls out?

Surely, they weren't going played balls out against the Phantoms or Ice Dogs?

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter if the BD haven't won a championship...they don't belong in the D league.

Anonymous said...

Whatever, that's your opinion. I can tell you that the majority of the teams in D-League enjoy playing against the BD vs. the HT anytime.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure the C league teams will enjoy playing them just as much as the D league teams do.

Anonymous said...

There is no defense for the Hockey Team's actions. And, there is no comparison between Hockey Team and any other 'D' league team over the last 3 seasons.

It was indeed obvious to the entire 'D' league that Hockey Team was holding back after they were told to move up this year. 3 of the Hockey Teams losses were during 'C' league 'trial' games. A large portion of the HT roster failed to make those games anyway.

It's time to move on boys. You are no longer wanted in this league. None of the other 'D' league teams would show the lack of sportsmanship and hang around the lower level after winning so many games and championships over the last couple of seasons.

Look at some of the shot totals from the early season games and they are absolutely laughable (all in favor of HT).

55-9
48-7
36-11
49-16

All in a 4 game span. Even in their games against the other top teams (Blue devils, Yokels, etc), Hockey Team usually outshot them by 2-1.

That my friends is total domination. It is certainly not fun for the loser. And, how can that really be a challenge for the winner ?

We are all here to play for fun. You guys take the fun out of it for everyone. You don't know how close the other teams came to getting together and just not showing up for your games.

Anonymous said...

All of the upper-tier 'D' league teams over the last few years have at least tried a season in 'C' league, except the Hockey Team (Chiefs, Hitmen, Ice Dragons, Ham and Eggers, Blue Devils). The Misfits have been on the fringe a few times. I am sure they would move up if they felt the need.

Why don't you guys give it your best shot for a season (C League) ? That is all anyone is asking for. If you get killed in 'C' league, then nobody will complain if you move back down.

Right now, it just looks like you guys are a bunch of pansies.

The team that Hockey Team rolled out in the beginning of the summer season was at least a mid to upper tier 'C' team.

Anonymous said...

No one is saying the HT belongs in D.

EVERYONE agrees they should have moved up to C a long time ago!

But neither does a team as good as the BD belong in D.

Anonymous said...

i would like to point something out about the STbD.....the fall/winter season before this one they finished 15-16-1. maybe they just had a good session during the summer, beating the teams they are supposed and winning a few close ones? i mean, how good can they really be? isn't that one of them getting beat up by a girl in the below video?

Let's take a look at some stats from Pointstreak to put the Hockey Team vs. Blue Devils debate in perspective.

Hockey Team's collective record since Summer 2006 is

71-8-5

They have never attempted to move out of D league.

Blue Devils collective record since Summer 2006 is

37-34-3

The Blue Devils moved up to C league the summer of 2006 and ended the session with a record of 5-13-2. The following season they returned to the D league.

71-8-5(HT) vs. 37-34-3(BD)

I, for one, am happy to see the Blue Devil's achieving success. My team has not only beaten the BD's but lost to them as well. That's the way the puck drops. I wish the BD's luck in their games against Hockey Team and hope they come out on top.

As for Hockey Team, it's simple...It's time for them to go.

Anonymous said...

Lots of good comments so far.

Take a look at the HT penalties AND look at the opponents penalties in the HT games.

BD are one of least penalized teams with 127 total PMs, had 43 PMs in the two HT games. So 1/3 of BD penalties were playing HT.

Hockey Team are team of disrespectful players. No one likes playing them. It IS possible to beat a team with respect on both sides.

And Yockey has turned out to be two faced. Why have a a meeting with a clearly stated outcome and then not follow through?

On the topic of ringers, I hope everyone agrees that ex-highschool kids cannot play D. Their skill, speed and endurance is beyond D level. Couple that with a highschool attitude and disrespect and it takes the fun out of the game.

Anonymous said...

"Isn't it true that BD bitched and moaned about good players in the League, however their team wasnt touched at all, while teams all around them were dismantled."

No teams were dismantled. There were exactly 2 players kicked out of the league this season.

Two teams lost recent high school "ringers" during this season. It is true that one of the teams really suffered for it. But, that only goes to show that the kid was playing in a league he had no business being in. One player should not make or break a team.

It is a shame that the Hockey Team coordinator did not bother to show up for the 'D' coordinators meeting. He would have had a chance to explain his position to the other teams. The matter could have been discussed and a solution could have been found. There were two big issues that were discussed during the coordinators meeting: Hockey Team and ringers. The ringer issue was dealt with unanimously, except for the one team that lost a ringer. The team that lost a player was very upset about it. But, at least they had a chance to discuss the issue and understand why the other teams had a problem with the situation. The Hockey Team decision was unanimous as they were the only no show.

And Sirkus is correct, the Blue Devils were 15-16-1 in the last fall season. Although we have had a good summer, we certainly have not disanced ourseleves from the rest of the top half of the 'D' league.

Hockey Team may defend themselves to Tom Yockey. But, what they really need to do is explain their situation to the other teams.

Cheers,
Whiney Old Blue Devil

what's wrong with kids playing in the league? Old guys just can't handle getting beat.
If you don't want them playing move the minimum age from 18 to 25

Anonymous said...

Moving the age to 25 was discussed and pretty much agreed upon with Yockey at the last coordinators meeting. Implementing the changes is what fails to ever take place.
Same old story, just a different day.

Anonymous said...

Yep!

Anonymous said...

The age for 'D' league is now 25 and over according to Tom. But, you can get permission from Tom to play if you have not played high school hockey.

Yes, it is true that the old guys cannot hang with the kids. But, just about everyone in the 'D' league falls into the over 25 category with very few exceptions (like BAC).

Anonymous said...

i can't help i wasnt rich enough to play HS hockey....

(weeps)

BAC

Anonymous said...

That brings up a good question. Lets say you didn't grow up playing hockey and you want to start playing after you got out of high school. So lets also assume you start at age 18. You are not allowed to play in the D league because you are not old enough? But you are no where close to being good enough to play in the C league. Are you doomed to the I league until you are 25? Then what happens when you start getting better and those people want you kicked out of that league as well? You could then make a rule that if you played in high school you can't play in the D league, but I have seen some people that have played high school that belong in the I league. The only thing that should determine what league you play in is talent level. Every league is going to have people that don't belong. You are going to have to deal with that. But when you have a team that doesn't belong I think that is something else. But the thing is, as long as they pay the money they will play. If they can't, they will move to a new rink so they can get what they want.

Anonymous said...

you listening, yockey?

Anonymous said...

but its going to be the same thing at any other rink. i think the above post didn't catch that....

Anonymous said...

Hockey Team does not stand a chance against a real C-League team in the finals; Blue Devils.

Anonymous said...

GO BLUE DEVILS!!! Show those cheaters the door. All HT's players are ringers in this "D"-league, they have at least 3 B-league players (everyone in the league knows who I'm referring to), all of their other players are C-league players. It's just not fair.

Anonymous said...

right on! I'm going up to the rink to watch those fags lose tonight! And i swear 56 and 11 are dating

56 is pitching and 11 receiving!!! Just check out the photo of #11 on the HT on pointstreak, what a 70's leftover homo!!!

Anonymous said...

For the guy that asked the question.....

The under 25 rule was only put into place to keep the kids that played high school hockey from playing in the 'D' league. If you played high school hockey, then you should probably have at least 'C' league ability.

Anyone who started playing hockey after high school is going to be allowed to play 'D' league. They just have to get permission from Tom (not a difficult thing).

We can testify HT did not lose on purpose last night. They got their aces whupped. Enjoyed it and a cool one in the crossbar.

Anonymous said...

It was a good, well played game last night. Terry (BD goalie) was a rock. This version of HT does appear to be one that would compete well in the 'C' league. Maybe they were missing some of their players last night. I would expect HT to bring all their guns on Sunday night.

If THIS version of the HT were to return to the StarCenter next season as a 'D' team, I don't think there would be too many complaints as time went on. Yes, they are still a damn good team. But, they do not appear to be as dominant as they were last year or earlier this year. Perhaps this is due to them having their top players (i.e. ringers) removed from the team recently (Ross and Slezak).

But, even if HT has only upper 'D' league talent currently, they still have to deal with their well deserved on-ice reputation for penalties and sportsmanship. And that, is going to anger many of the other teams if HT is allowed to return to the Euless D league next season.

If Hockey Team is leaving Euless, then the issue is moot. However, if they are going to stay, they will need to smooth over the bad feelings between HT and the rest of the league. It starts with their team coordinator. Maybe he should send an email to the other coordintors explaining HT's future intentions and why he feels they should be allowed to stay in the Euless 'D' league. A lot of bridges have been burned regarding HT. It is up to them to do something about it. If they don't, the HT games are going to continue to be penalty filled brawls.

Anonymous said...

We put a good whoppin' on those sissies, they really never had a chance. Sunday we will run them over once again, stroll in the park...

Good job boys and of course having a goalie of Terry's caliber and knowing he had our backs didn't hurt.

Happy BD player!

Anonymous said...

I hope Hockey Team will stay in D-Euless next year so Blue Devils, Yokels and they other so called D-league teams (that no one is upset about playing D) gets humbled between beating weak teams.

Anonymous said...

"Maybe they were missing some of their players last night. I would expect HT to bring all their guns on Sunday night."

Look at Pointstreak, what "big guns" do they have??? Mask is suspended (he sucks anyway, all he can do is play dirty). Skurdalsvold?? He can hardly skate...

No this is the mighty Hockey team when they get outplayed.

If every team in D would lose their respect for them and not take penalties against them and work as hard as we did last night, they would be a middle of the pack D-league team.

WOW! This blog is amazing. A team member showed this to me yesterday. (must say I was amazed when I found out that I can use my computer to other things than watching porn, a whole new world opened up).

Great game last night, Blue Devils won in a fair, well played game.

To answer "Anonymous" (posted at 11.37 AM today); No, ringers will be called up Sunday. #11 Burke Egner will probably play and depending on other guys travel plans or other activities, Scotty (who actually is a decent skater) might play as well.

I do feel that we should have an other good game Sunday and we'll do what we can to get a couple of pucks behind Terry and force a game 3. If not the beer is still cold at the Crossbar.

i like how everyone talks about ht being thugs and cheap, but then comes back with "we are going to make all of their games penalty filled brawls"-are you serious?? How can you say that and keep any moral integrity you cling to so self-righteoulsy on this blog? Admitedly, there have been some rough games with us and some other teams-and things have gotten out of hand, but when i've not touched anyone all night, and some kid skates up behind me and reapeatedly swings his stick at my legs, hitting me a good five or six times, then proceeds to run his mouth about how we're a dirty team in line, it's a little frustrating. If you're going to call us dirty, at least have the integrity to hold yourselves to the same standard you place on us.

While there are some things you can accuse our team of, complaining has never been one of them. Terry played one hell of a game last night and we were the first one's to tell him about it. It's funny how clean a game can be when we are playing a team like the devils who don't swing sticks and take cheap shots.

HT played a clean game last night. It was fun playing against them. Looking forward to Sunday.
