hockey video of the week/I League Preview

This video has nothing to do with hockey…but we are convinced it’s what all hockey players should drink.

on to previews!!!!!!!!

6:30pm Gold: Brewzers vs Puckers
Puckers still looking for their first win, Brewzers are playing good hockey, but can’t seem to get that last push towards a win. Kevin Luchenhoff needs to step it up if the puckers are going to win.

6:30pm Green: Snipers vs Ice Holes
Ice Holes are rolling great defensive hockey and should win this game if they keep playing as tight as they have been playing. Snipers will need a great game from the trio of Eyesermans, Henderson and Halford if the snipers are to pull the upset.

7:45pm Gold: Komets vs Leftovers
Komets wins have been lucky, their loses, deserved. From Bobby Sirkis about the game, “The Komets are an aberration; they got lucky when they beat the warriors. As far as my squad is concerned, players cut: The Entire team. Players signed: John Pinnard, Brian Conner, Chris Conner, Jason Isham, Dr. Karim Abdul Jamal, Tommy Sirkis and the prophet Mohammed”. We think he is serious.

7:45pm Green: Stickmen vs Black Widows
These two teams are very similar to each other, low scoring offenses with great goalies. Question is which goalie will hold up to be the better man? Half the stickmen will have already played in a game before hand, we think this may influence the outcome, perhaps. Jeff Vaughan cast his lot in favor of the Stickmen. The Black widows shouldn’t even show up now.

9pm Gold: Patriots vs Warriors
This will be interesting matchup for several reasons. Young gun Nate Hodges vs Mansfield High School’s own Travis Webb and Dallas/Travis lehr vs the entire warriors squad…we hear blood will be shed. Patriots are on fire in the offensive department as every player is rolling on the scoresheet. Should be a good one.

9pm Green: Blue Devils vs Spiders
The Blue Devils finally have a solid offensive strategy: Give the Puck to Jarred Roberson. The only hope would be for Chris Gallagher to come to the aid of the Spiders. They are reeling after last week’s decimation at the hands of the Patriots. From Todd Smith, “Is it a coincidence the blue devils were 0-2 when I wasn’t playing? No, I pretty much am the Blue Devils. Mike Drago is a fossil of the old crappy blue devils that couldn’t win a championship. I’m the face of victory”

I league: Week 3

Another excellent night of hockey is now in the books…no big stories on the night…well, maybe a couple…

1. Doug Phillips (Patriots) - 3 goals, 1 assist - Patriots 7-2 win

2. Jarrod Roberson (Blue Devils) – 3 goals -Blue Devils 4-0 win

3. Ken Halford (Snipers) – 1 goal, 1 assist (GWG) - Snipers 3-2 win

Honorable Mention: Gerrald Cappers (komets): 1 goal, 1 assist (GWG) - Komets 3-2 win

Goalie of the week: John Ellis (warriors) 24 saves on 25 shots - Warriors 2-1 Shootout win

Blue Devils 4 Puckers 0
The puckers drop their third of the season to fall to 0-3, while the Blue Devils avoid the winless streak to go to 1-2 on the season. This game saw the return of BD goon Todd Smith, whose inspirational leadership rallied the evil empire. Eric Hogentogler had the first goal for BD on a Mike Drago (RINGER!!!) assist. After that it would be Duncanville’s own Jarrod Roberson who gets the hat trick on the night putting up three goals, two of which were unassisted. Glorious work sir. Puckers goalie John Bugelr was assimilated by shots as he was forced to combat a total of 34 on the night. From Captain Ray Workman, “Since our I League team couldn’t get the job done, we decided to bring down our D league boys. The Blue Devils franchise can’t afford to look weak in the eyes of competitors”

Ice Holes 1 Brewzers 0
Ice Hole aka the Ice Dragons continue to dominate the league with crushing defense and remain atop the league as the only undefeated team. A goal by “Mike” late in the second was the only goal in this one as it proved to hold up for the defensively sound Ice Holes. Both sides threw 17 shots on net, however Doug Taylor for the Holes proves to be the better of two keepers as he gets his second shutout of the season. The Ice Holes are playing Ken Hitchcock style hockey, we’ll see where it gets them…

Patriots 7 Spiders 2
An absolute conquest occurred in this matchup. Patriots were still haunted by their regular season loss to the spiders last season; however the Pats unleashed a fire storm that could not be quelled by Zeus himself. Pats started the game with a 1-0 lead on a Greg Helenbrook one timer on a Nate Hodges pass. Spiders would tie it up on an Andrew Patti marker, however Pats then exploded in the second by scoring four goals. Doug Phillip, Jesse Gonzales, Travis Lehr, all had goals (the Henderson goal was dead sexy goal scored in mid air on a Phillips' pass. In the third it was more Patriots domination as the great Paul Coyne score while Phillips would get his third goal late in the game. Tom Yockey's phone must have been ringing the next day because any hat trick must have been scored by none other than Hockey Lord Chris Skupien, adored by millions. Patriots are proving their 2-0 loss with 6 skaters opening night was a mere apparition, they have reversed their fortunes by scoring 12 goals in 2 games. Mighty is England! Spiders had chances on the night, however clearly lacked their firepower in Alex Atkins and Chris Gallagher. Spiders net minder Matt Sexton deserved a better fate. Coaching wise, Spiders Coach Tom Yockey was simply outcoached in this one, by the Spirit of Jeff Vaughan Solo.

Snipers 3 Leftovers 2
The matchup wouldn’t speak of a great game, but it certainly was. Inspired by the masterful coaching of Bobby Sirkis, the Leftovers once again found themselves not only in the game, but with a chance to win it as well. In the first period it would be Ohio State’s own Jesse Henderson who scores on a Ken “Pimp Daddy” Halford assist. After a scoreless second, the Leftovers would rally with their superstars in the form of Will Quinn, John (or is it Sean) Griffin, and Junior Lindamood. Quinn would score on a Lindamood and Griffin Assist, while Lindamood would score later on a very nice Quinn feed. With under 3 minutes to go in this one, the Leftovers had the 2-1 advantage, however Rob Mustell would rally his way to the net for the equalizer, and with 18 seconds left, the heartbreaker occurred for leftover fans everywhere as Halford scores to ice the game for the Snipers. Coach Sirkis was unavailable for questions after the game.

Komets 3 Black Widows 2
Black Widows drop their first of the season in a very close matchup with the komets. Black Widows who were only skating with 7 skaters on the night almost pulled a miracle, but the Komets just had two skaters for every one black widow. Peanut Ratliff would score the opening marker for the BW for the 1-0 lead. Komets would the tie the game on a Sergio “Mexi-Can” goal off a Gerrald Cappers assist. Komets would gain an advantage on an Alex Atkins goal from all time Komets assist leader Sean Keirr. Finally late in the second, the Komets would get the game winner from Gerrald Cappers for the 3-1 advantage. The Black Widows would rally early in the third on a a goal from a mysterious number 0…someone enlighten us…we do know the great Patti Greco had the assist on the play. But the Black Widow simply did not have enough numbers in this one to pull it out, give them a couple more forwards and the day is theirs. Komets unreliance on Chris Gallagher is baffling the entire league.

Warriors 2 Stickmen 1 (Shootout)

In a game being hotly protested by the Stickmen, saw the Warriors get back into their winning ways with a dramatic shootout win. In a very low scoring contest we saw both squads scoring in the first, Stickmen on a Kevin Cook goal on a Ed Vogle assist, while the Warriors got their first strike on a Roy Urquhart (spelling ??) on an Eric Johnson assist. For the record….can the Warriors possibly make their bench any larger??? 17 skaters, a goalie and a back up goalie (we know you were just coaching back there Bobby). After a scoreless second and third, the shootout would have Eric Holmes get the winning tally. Shots were nearly even in this one with David Blubough facing 20 shots on the night while John “Super Goalie” Ellis faced 25. Best game of the night.
