minor
Chiefs 6pts(3-4-0) 2
LSI 12pts(6-1-0) 5
Although Bill Broad opened the scoring for the Chiefs the scene quickly shifted to a common LSI phenomenon. The most prolific line in the league (I say with absolutely no research) has to be the Mulder and Scully combination of Gabe Rivera and Catherine Levesque, they team-up for the first two Import goals, securing the lead before the first period ended. In the second Gabe gets the assist on Cliff Bogle's goal, Tom Harnitchek scores to put the Chiefs within one. Rivera could not be contained, in the third he scores two more for a total of five points on the night. Bill Broad takes himself out of the game late with penalties.
Silverwings 5pts(2-4-1) 2
Whalers 10pts(5-2-0) 3
Watching this game in person, the speed was overwhelming. Could this be I-league, it looked to be at least a mid to high level D. The first period is sum zero, a Wing goal from James Pickett and a Whaler goal Brad Watson. In the second the Hamster Brian Hamstra puts one away for the Whaler lead. The "C" train left the station as Sergio Castillo ties the game, exactly one minute later the Whalers wrestle it back with a goal from Paul Thurston. With a period left to play, the Silverwings only needed one more juicy rebound, but there would not be another. The Whalers are on a slippery slope, with their history they need the wins to unite the team, but if they accumulate too many points, they could end up in the MAJORs.
Puckers 10pts(5-2-0) 4
Privateers 10pts(5-2-0) 2
The Puckers allow plenty of opportunities, but overcome with a huge upset. Rick Gregory and Rob Constantine score the only two goals of the first period, both for the Puckers. Robert Meassengale cuts the lead in half early in the second, Don Lyle ties the score at the three minute mark. The Puckers find the game winner late in the third with the help of Steve Niekamp. In the third the Puckers tighten the screws and not only keep the 'Teers at bay but net one more goal from Larry Nounemany. Is this the 'Teer's December swoon? What will become of the Privateers after this session? The rumors abound that they may not return, or if they do it may be as a completely different look.
Team Euless 0pts(0-7-0) 3
Grave Diggers 4pts(2-5-0) 4
The switch in goal for the Diggers meant I would make my debut as a forward, masquerading as "Don Ells", amazingly, Billy Quinn's goal (the first of the game) is off my assist (can't say I remember). In the second Euless evens it up with a goal from Robert Massengale (I think that's the correct spelling), but lose the lead to Danny Grimes on the potent Grave Digger power play. The third was a shooting gallery. It started with the quick hands of Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr to put the Diggers ahead by two, then late in the period, Robert Massengale tries to close the gap for Euless. The Diggers fire back less than a minute later with a goal from Bruce Davis. The ill-fated Euless rally ends with a goal from Marie Lindley. Bob Sirkis plays a very aggressive stand-up style, leaving several tasty rebounds but comes up with a couple of game changing stops, inspiring his offense. Another Digger session ends strong, sure they will probably play themselves into a hole early next session, but they always grow together as the season continues. . . It's hard to not have fun with this team.
MAJOR
Ice Bats 12pts(6-1-0) 2
Komets 9pts(4-2-1) 1
The strongest Komets team in recent history roars onto the ice, playing for a place in the play-offs, Scottie Baldree leads the charge as per usual, scoring the opening goal unassisted. Chuck Dolbee resurrects the Ice Bat resolve, evening the score before the period ended. In the second, Mitch Gnatowsky takes the lead for the Bats in the last two minutes. The Komets prefer to ride a lead into the third, and cannot find the extra gear they need to save the game, they lose to the league favorite.
Snipers 3pts(1-5-1) 3
Stickmen 7pts(3-3-1) 4
Wiry Kevin Cook opens the game with a Sniper goal setting the tone for the Sniper bench, could this be the night? The Sticks respond with a goal from Damon Flores to close the first. Just fourteen seconds into the second the Snipers beat Blubaugh again, this time it's Chris Davis. The Snipers follow that up with a goal from the omnipresent Jamil Al Jabri. The Sticks regroup with goals from Wil Dobson (Whore!) and Todd Smith. The final five minutes of the middle frame, both teams batted each other around looking for weaknesses, with no results on the scoreboard. Back in the corner, Burgess Meredith slapped the Sticks in the face, cut open their eyes and sent them into the ring for the final round, the upstart Snipers continued to deliver blow after blow but it's Steve Hart who lands the knock-out for the Stickmen. Matt Walker shows glimpses of greatness in the Sniper net. Blubaugh gets his second win of the night.
Brewzers 6pts(2-3-2) 2
Patriots 10pts(4-1-2) 3
A scoreless first period leads into a heated exchange between goalies at center ice as "diva" Mike Moore taunts SNH reporter Jon Ellis over perceived besmirchment in the press. Moore gets the first laugh, when Steve Daniels makes an incredible redirect on the Eysermanns shot to put the Brewzers on top. John Newell puts the Pats on the board before the second ends. In the third Eysermanns gets one of his own on the rebound, but the roaring Brewzer bench is silenced when Brad Allen sends it to overtime late in the third. The Pats playoff hopes are kept alive when Kendall Bernard finds the twine with less than a minute left in the overtime period. Somewhere along the way, Dallas Lehr made a save of his own against a hard Brewzer shot, maybe he saved the game?
DFW Titans 6pts(3-4-0) 1
Blue Devils 10pts(5-2-0) 2
The Blue Devils hold fast to their playoff hopes, could this be a three-peat (*check stats to make sure they won last two before posting!)? Despite a strong James Barber start in the Titan net, recording a shut-out first and third period, and allowing only two goals on twenty shots, the Titans have been quashed. Steven Hart puts the Devils on the board first with an early goal in the second. Kenneth Rawson ties it up just a couple of minutes later, but in just two more minutes, Jay Peters ends the Titans' season. Look-out for the Devils!
P.S. Look for my post on playing out this week, hopefully with some video! Hope I didn't misspell too many things, can't make Blogger work for me tonight. Happy hockey!

It is nice to see the Puckers beat up a ringer team like the Privaqueers.
"The Sticks regroup with goals from Wil Dobson (Whore!) and Todd Smith" - The quote is like that of a prostitute calling someone who just likes to screw, a slut.
How many games did you play Saturday Night BCIII? :) hehe.
I will not question anyones sexuality. I will only offer this video from the Whalers vs. Silverwings... for what it's worth.

Massengale is the way to spell it, but I don't really care how it's spelled. The main point is I score a lot. That's what she said.
I always forget who Robert Massengale really is. . . sorry, again.
Russ Martin WE MISS You.
russ martin is a flaming jerk.
You must be some right-wing Asshole? You have the right to change the station! And your team sucks!
Go listen to your fag "Kid" on 106.1
No question the privateers will be back next session, just probably in the majors, and with a better goalie (Matt Sexton?).
Now that one guy can quit voting over and over in that poll, and get to thinking up a clever nickname for the next 3rd place J league "ringer" team. May I suggest what the letters in LSI could stand for?
Anyway. Playing the puckers was fun, even though they outplayed us, hardcore. Friendly after game conversation> police getting called. And Donaghue(?- I'm too lazy to check poinstreak for spelling) shit damn! Top notch goalie-ing, indeed.
My ejection with 1:45 was lame. I didn't slash anyone. Game misconduct penalties? Good grief. I have seen a lot worse stuff that this.....
Privateers are not going anywhere. But I would rather move up w/ Ryan if possible. She has been a stalwart loyalist to the Privateers cause.
The first gutless 'Anonymous 'is calling Privateers a 'ringer team'. That is funny. Explain the 2 losses?
Every season people complain about Privateers in Euless. First, it was 'Cody Payne needs to move up', then it was 'Joel Bush and/or Patrick Haley' need to move up. Now, we just label the whole team ringers and ignore the ringers on other teams.
LSI is in first place -- not the teers, and we are behind in the tie breaker since we lost head to head with Puckers.... so stfu with the ringer b.s.
And you lost to the chiefs! they must have ringers too! ;)
The whole ringer argument is lame.
The 'teers toiled away with the same core group of players in mediocrity for years, playing I league in Duncanville, going all the way back to their days as 'Mustangs'.
When Patrick Haley, Joel Bush, and the Paynes joined the team, just a short year and a half ago, they were new to hockey. (Patrick had played goalie before).
The 'Teers did not go out and grab a bunch of ringers. Stability in the core group of players, and learning the tendencies of your team mates helps you become a better team.... but clearly, not a perfect team.
I can't think of one player that joined the 'teers as an 'estabished' ringer yet.... I guess Steve Haley just drafted well.
It must be ginger complaining about ringers again.
if you play in the minor, you are not a ringer. If you think you are. Go play D league or C league, then you'll find out you suck.
Thanks
Nate
Don't be sorry about the Robert Massengale/ Bob-o junk. It confuses my parents all the time. They just call me R.
I don't mind a ringer or two. It makes the game interesting. They are a good way to watch and learn. That's why drop in's rock. LOTS of good players to learn from. It's I-league to me, nothing more or less. I pay my hockey dues so I can have fun, not complain if there are better players on other teams. Spend energy on practicing to become better, not complaining. Someday you can take the puck from them, then you too will be called a ringer.
You are a ringer erick
Alot of players in the minor play in a D league. At least players from LSI. Someone even play in a C league.
I dont think they suck
Without controversy and hot sports opinions, I-League would be pretty boring. Bob-o had some good things to say... you get better from playing with those who are better than you. That being said, if a more talented player wants to improve, he would move to a league that would challenge him more... and that does take a certain degree of balls and some humility.
The Other Ellis
most people agree that you don't get better unless you play against better players. the problem most people have is when the 'better' players are scoring 3 goals a game. the players that are better than most know who they are and for whatever reason they want to play in the i league {play with friends, husband/wife combo, father/mother/son/daughter, only get the kitchen pass on saturdays,...}. these players need to challenge themselves to get assists. it is easy to score goals in i league, it is hard to pass to get the puck to someone in the position to score a goal. and one other thing that bothers me, why do some teams have 18 skaters for a game and other teams only have 8 skaters?
well, some teams are enjoying this league, those of us without "ringers" (aka the Whalers). Although there are some teams that are better than others, that's fine its part of the game and we look forward to the game with the Teers on Saturday and hope that it'll be a good and fair game.
Doesn't brian hamstra play on the whalers?
Yes.
I think "ringer" is also an attitude as well as it is a level of talent. "Ringers" might tend to be a little selfish on the ice (not putting an effort toward assists/passing as Bob-O mentioned). Also, as far as goal scoring... those who get multiple goal per game simply know how to crash the net and swat at rebounds. These are USUALLY not skill shots or break aways. In my opinion, "Ringers" sine out because of their skating and puck handling through traffic. I long for the day that everyone hates me for being too talented.
The Other Ellis
Is brian hamstra a ringer?!?!?!
Skate laces for guys: Any color other than black/white. Gay or not Gay?
not gay. grafs have yellow
Well, maybe they need to change that...?
totally gay... and yellow could be mistaken for dirty white... still gay though...
everybody's a ringer... and i pee'd on my laces to make em yellow! SUHWEET!!!
That Damon Flores on the Stickmen is a frickin' ringer. He tries to fool everyone with his tricky skating technique, but bottom line, he needs to move up. Anyone who carries a team the way he does, should move up. I mean, they wouldn't have many goals if it wasn't for him.
Pay attention Nate, no one on here is claiming that they are ringers, rather other people whining about ringers....BTW.. is that how you found out you suck is by going to those leagues?
I like how nate was defending the privateers and you choose to tell him he sucks. And you started off by saying "pay attention". Thats weak.
And for the record, Nate is a decent I-league coach and pretty good defensemen at the D level, so you might also want to check your sources on his alleged sucking.
That's right Joel, Nate was pointing out people like David who thought they were a ringer, moved up to D-League, found out they sucked, and came back to I
HAHAHAHA wow 1:18 PM. That was amazing..... David does suck. He also needs to either grow facial hair like a real man, or shave that poor excuse for a womb broom off.
I thought that loser quit months ago
We all know the ringer. He is the guy controlling the game every week. He skates through everyone and scores the goal when his team needs it. That is it. If you know this guy, then ask Tom Yockey to take a look at him.
I agree with the person who said that the ringer status is also a mindset. It is a very selfish mindset and this person is not a team player. Just because you can control a game, does not mean you should. Even if your team wins, it is not any better and you are not helping to improve the game.
That said, let's all try and remember that this is a recreational league. Come out, skate your best and try to make some good hockey plays. Leave tired. You are going to run into the ringer occasionally, but take some solace in the fact that not every team has a ringer. You get better every time you go up against one (unless you become the whiner and give up on yourself and your team) and you can use that in your next game.
I have one last thought. If your coordinator brings in a ringer, then that is a slap in your face. Ringers in the league start and can end with the coordinators.
