Opening night for I League began, with many entertaining games, one even going into Overtime. We are going to try and keep stats this session as well as try something new with Goalie Stats. Hey, let’s hope for good stat keeping. On to the games…..
Patriots 2 Wolverines 0
First game of the fall session featured a great struggle between Goalies Chris Duran of the Wolverines and Jesse Gonzales for the Patriots. We had a good view of this one, great back and forth action from both squads. Bryan Brookman had a goal and an assist, while “Hockey Whore” Rahul Sharma added the Pats second tally of the night. Gonzales stopped all 14 shots he faced.
Brewzers 3 True.com 2
A Heartbreaker for team True.com on a late third period goal by “Jamil” (if this lad has a last name, we’d love to know), to complete his hat trick on the night. Carl Lucos had 2 scores on the night for True.com, one of them even shorthanded. From the looks of it, this team will do just fine in the league.
Stingers 3 Spiders 2 (OT)
An excellent game to observe from the crossbar with a cold one in hand. 10 Penalties on the night, so we hope Olson buys that new whistle. Correction: Hockey Warrior Jason Isham knots 2 goals, one of which was the Game Winner, and gets an assist. Rick White also put one in the back of the net for the stingers. Spiders' goals by Patti Greco and Alex Atkins.
If any more corrections are needed, please let us know, we are only hockey players.
Blue Devils 4 Puckers 1
Blue Devils started off the Session with a very confident win over the lucky puckers. Jerry Newman lit the lamp twice while Scott Speedman and David Ogle added scores. The lone pucker goal was put in by Rick Gregory. Blue Devils only threw 13 shots on net, but scored on 4 of them.
Ice Holes 1 Snipers 0
A rematch of last session’s playoff game ended exactly the same with the Ice Holes victorious. A mid third period goal by Steve Junker (from what we can tell on the stats sheet), allowed the Ice Holes to win their 6th straight (dating back to last session). Snipers Goalie Patrick Donaghue, even though took the loss, stopped 35 of 36 shots, while opposing Net minder David Giesecke stopped all 6 shots he faced. We don’t have a “time on attack” stat, but by looking at the shots, we are guessing the Ice Holes dominated this.
Fugaweez 3 Komets 0
The Komets win over grapevine was short lived as the Fugaweez began their “Season of Vengeance”. Komets only trailed 1-0 going into the third when Fugs tallied twice for the 3-0 win. Goals by Matt Osbourn, John Ward and Kyle Overton.
Stickmen 4 Shockers 0
Stickmen score twice in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd to spoil the shockers’ initiation. Kevin Oliver scored twice while Jim O’ Reilly and Dan Lagrone also added a goal each. I guess technically this game was played on Sunday. 12:30am start times are so fun.
Nice Opening night. Stats to come shortly. BAC needs sleep.

Are the BD's/Wolverines/Stickmen that play in D-League the same BD's/Wolverines/Stickmen that play in I-League? I'm so confused. Baby arm.
Also is Jesse the Pat's new full time net minder or was he subbing in? Mirkin.
Jesse is the Pats full time net minder and We are pretty sure the BD/Wolverine I league Teams arnt the same as D league. Stickmen, however, We are unsure.

thanks. I've got a flask in my car if anyone wants to join me for an after hours drink.
to answer question: same organization but not same teams necessarily. some (few) guys on bd's, for example, play on multiple teams. most just on one level or the other.
