Remembering Jeremy Hunkin

Just a quick memorium:

If you remember the Leftovers, then perhaps you remember the Aussie I-leaguer Jeremy Hunkin. While in the States on business, he decided to join up with our league. After three sessions playing with the Leftovers, he had his fill of hockey, and left us with many interesting and happy memories. While his hockey skills didn't warrant much gameplanning, his accent would often draw a double-take from opposing players.

I received the sad news this week that Jeremy was killed in a motorcycle accident back in Australia.

If you have any contact information or just something you would like to share, feel free to use the space below.

my wife was a teammate of jeremy's on the leftovers and we always found ourselves gravitating to jeremy and his wife sandy after the games in the crossbar. what wonderful people and our heart aches for sandy who is pregnant with jeremy only child. they really enjoyed thier time with us in texas and jeremy was trying to find a way to get his job to send him back to us. he will be in our hearts and we feel lucky to have been friends with them even for a short time bobby warriors, army of 12 monkeys

Jeremy and his wife Sandy went through skating class with myself and a few others who now play, then we moved into hockey asap. They were some of the nicest people you could possibly meet and were trying to get moved back to a job here with Lockheed I believe. We had spoken about a year ago about maybe visiting them in Melbourne, but sadly we never made it there. Jeremy aka "Jez" was an awesome friend to know on and off the ice. You're gonna be missed a lot by everyone who ever got the chance to play on a line with you or hang out with you at the Crossbar. I'd like to encourage everyone who played with him to place a sticker or piece of tape on their helmets in this week's game with his initials or nickname written on it in honor of our friend--a small chance to show respect for our friend. Damn this really just sucks, couldn't have happened to a cooler guy. RIP Bro, I feel terrible for you and your family

It is sad to hear this tragedy happen. Jeremy was a teammate of mine for 3 seasons on the Leftovers. While he was here in DFW, he had a passion to learn the game of hockey. He was one of the nicest people I ever met. He always came in the dressing room with a smile on his face and he had a great sense of humor. I will be praying for Sandy and her family.
