Interesting ...

Now here's an interesting development. A rival blog has arrived on the scene. I-league's own Chris Gallagher has started his blog for the upper leagues in Euless -- A to D. We wish him the best of luck.

Read it here.

He wastes no time in breaking a little news. We don't know his source, but Gallagher says the D-league playoffs will include the top four teams in a one-game elimination bracket instead of the traditional three-game series. That sucks. Sucking even harder, he has the Hockey Team as one of the eligible teams.

We hope the new blogger has his facts wrong, or the guys running this league will have lived up to the sad tradition of telling folks what they want to hear and then doing the opposite.

Hockey Team ?????? What ??? They are supposed to be out of the 'D' league and out of the playoffs.

Come on Hockey Team. Enough is enough already. You guys are not wanted in Euless and certainly not wanted in the 'D' league.

If Hockey Team is allowed to stay in Euless, other teams will leave. Don't they get it yet ???

Anonymous said...

and?

Anonymous said...

"And" the rink stands to lose money by keeping one team that portrays no sportsmanship, at the expense of losing some of 10 other teams that enjoy playing each other.

Anonymous said...

No shit! Hockey Team needs to suck it up and move to C-League!

Anonymous said...

Maybe Tom Yockey can be convinced to exclude the Hockey Team from the playoffs?

Anonymous said...

If hockey team is allowed into the playoffs...

then the Spartans will be bringing Chris Skupien back.

What army does Tom Yockey have to enforce his lame duck legislation???

Try and Stop us.

Nate Hodges (spartans)

hockey team fears no one.....(in the d league)

Anonymous said...

At least the Hockey Team doesn't complain...that really is an oddity around here!

"Maybe Tom Yockey can be convinced to exclude the Hockey Team from the playoffs?"

This had already been determined in the coordinators meeting. That is why there is so much surprise now.

Anonymous said...

The Hockey Team deserves to play...and win. They are clearly the best team.

Anonymous said...

who is the hockey team?

Anonymous said...

They play in the D league.

Anonymous said...

whats d league?

Anonymous said...

the league the old phantoms are getting raped in.

Anonymous said...

ooooo.....sexy

Anonymous said...

D league is the league right above I league

Anonymous said...

i didn't know such a league existed. i thought they stopped at c and then went to i with the way everyone is bitching about a team......

Anonymous said...

Didn't you know, the next step up from I league is the frickin NHL

Anonymous said...

Hey, my team the Beerflyers got tired of losing to the hockey team so we just left and went to NYTEX. And after back to back championships you would think they would have moved up permanently by now. When I league teams move up to D they get pounded on too but they stay because they want to get better and not just dominate teams that they know can beat.

Anonymous said...

Beerflyers.....any relation to radio flyers?

Anonymous said...

How do the Beerflyers like playing at NYTEX?

Anonymous said...

Well the true colors of this facade. For the longest time you people have complained about RINGERS.

I am not a ringer by any stretch of the imagination. However, I am reading this blog, and honestly you people need to get a life.

Firstly: From what I can see the new blog is for the d through a leagues, NOT I-League!!!!!

Chris Gallagher even put a link to our blog. Kudos to you Chris! Thanks.

Secondly: I am reading some of the names in D League and they are awfully familiar to the names in I league. Are your teams playing there (D) as a team to improve, or are you playing I league to beat up on beginners?

I read the blog a couple of weeks ago when people were complaining about the Komets having a bunch of skaters playing D-league. You people are too funny. I compare those skaters to other skaters (I know I'm a beginner, but I'm not blind nor stupid) frankly several teams skate much better than the Komets. For example the Phantoms. Has anyone seen any of them fall down at all? EVER???????? The worst player skates better than our best skater. That is RIDICULOUS isn't it?

GET SERIOUS! stop complaining about ringers when your team is the most culpable!

Or perhaps you people really think its any different someone else?

"Are your teams playing there (D) as a team to improve, or are you playing I league to beat up on beginners?"

a lot of people play in two different leagues. a lot of times people will play in one league higher just to see if they can hang while still playing in their normal league just in case they can't. i bet if you look at some of the players in the d league you will find some that play in the c league. some players that play in the c league play in the b league and so on. i don't think there is anything wrong with someone playing in the i league and d league. it just means they want to move up and they just aren't ready to make the jump yet. look at those players stats. you should see that most of these players struggle a little. does that suck for the beginners? yea, but this is said all the time, you don't get better unless you play with better players. what i would be the most concerned about are the players that play in the c league and make an occastion apperance in the i league.

In aswer to previous post NYTEX is just starting out so I'll reserve judgement on how they run things for the Fall season. My team (beerflyers) like playing there and it seems like an actual D league talent wise. Locker rooms are smaller but you get a shelf. Had a theft problem earlier in the season but that has been addressed. The ice is good and the officials are the same as Euless. But like I said, I'm reserving judgement until a full season has passed.

Anonymous said...

i'd be willing to put money on a lot of players that play in the c league drop to the d league out there.....

Anonymous said...

You are right players move up and down like a crane and do about as much damage as a wrecking ball.

However there are many reasons why people play down... I like to think that most play because of their friends or because its Saturday night... Some are just ego seeking idiots that find it fun to "skate around people as though they were standing still" (you know who you are)

If we all stop complaining and just play..."PLAY" is the operative word... everything will be alright.

Play and enjoy your time! I do!

Is it true that some I leaguers are "Retiring" after this season?

Anonymous said...

Yeah they are moving to A league.

Anonymous said...

OK why did the Black Widows have to get half the Komets to play for them this Saturday? I mean do they not have any players on their roster? Some teams have too many maybe there should be a trade consummated here?

Anonymous said...

i don't mind the black widows had some of the komets players....at least there was a game to be played.

Anonymous said...

i agree at least a game was played, however the warriors were penalized 2 points by losing to the komets twice instead of a game they most likley wouldve won all because someone else couldnt field a team. what if those points had affected the standings and a out side keg shot?

Anonymous said...

Isn't the rule that if players arnt on the roster at the beginning of the season and players are used, the game is forfeited?

at least that's what I heard the coordinators meeting decided on last season.

Anonymous said...

Spear Britney!

Anonymous said...

"Isn't the rule that if players arnt on the roster at the beginning of the season and players are used, the game is forfeited? "

that is something the coordinator has to bring up if he/she feels that is what the team wants

Anonymous said...

"Isn't the rule that if players arnt on the roster at the beginning of the season and players are used, the game is forfeited? "

The catch to that is that not too many teams have access to two goalies... This season the Komets had to 'borrow' one when our goalie 'slept-in' (until 9pm). In that case, one person not showing up would cause a forefit.

It would be a different thing all together if one forward were sick and the backup was having automobile trouble... the game could be played short-handed (which we have done as well)...

some teams get started with the good intentions of each individual, and have to close down after the season when there aren't enough full-time roster stuffing to get started during the next season. Because it costs money to fill a roster position, these issues will take care of themselves and the teams will disband when not enough interest is displayed (financially). I don't think forcing a team to forefit by using an already-tired player from another team is the answer.

Do you?

Anonymous said...

Lets don't muddy the issue with rules and stuff...

Anonymous said...

"I don't think forcing a team to forefit by using an already-tired player from another team is the answer."

Don't ask the puckers that...

Anonymous said...

picking up one or two people to fill out a bench should be acceptable, but when only one or two people are your only rostered players and the rest are everybody elses players is the point i believe is being questioned

Anonymous said...

i guess it does kinda suck when the only goal of the game is scored by someone that isn't normally on that team with the assist coming from someone that is not normally on the team.

Anonymous said...

As I watched the komets playing for the B.W.'s Saturday night, I thought to myself "I wish I was asked to play for that team " ... My thought process was "I bet the game would be more enjoyable if I wasn't so concerned about someone elses team losing the game".

I can see your point about losing primarily due to another team's folks scoring, but I bet you wouldn't be complaining if you had won.

Can't we get back to bashing BAC?

Anonymous said...

Marky Mark, you have been quiet the last 2 weeks. Could it be my Cowboys are 2-0 and your New Orleans Aints are 0-2.

If you want to continue bringing the smack talk, then bring it!

AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE, CAUSE "STONE COLD" SAID SO!

Anonymous said...

Triple Preparation H -

The Saints are just off to a slow start. Once that offense starts humming look out. What a great year ahead for South Louisiana - LSU wins another NC and the Saints win the Super Bowl.

I predict the Saints go 11-5. Book it Benoit!

Marky Mark.

"but I bet you wouldn't be complaining if you had won."

but then we would be sore winners.....and no one likes that

"I agree at least a game was played, however the warriors were penalized 2 points by losing to the komets twice instead of a game they most likley wouldve won all because someone else couldnt field a team. what if those points had affected the standings and a out side keg shot"?

THE TRUTH COMES OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

isnt this all about the 2 points? Isnt this all about winning?

THERE is the number one problem!!!!

I say...do not keep standings...NO KEG period. PLay, just play!

Anonymous said...

Hmmm... The concept of playing for nothing more than the game itself intrigues me. Perhaps if we played for something not as desirable as an old beat-up keg (like say, perhaps, an old pizza box or an old ice skate discarded by Chris Gallagher), then perhaps we wouldn’t be so earnest to win. Perhaps there would be rampant throwing of games, and sh*t-talk about losers (rather than ringers). I suppose a stuffed YODA toy would be preferable to a Keg which was taken to Nytex anyway.

lol

Anonymous said...

If you want to play just to play, then go play pick up. People who play in leagues play to win. I don't know of anyone who shows up on saturday night hoping that their team will lose.

Anonymous said...

I play at NYTEX and there aren't even standings.

No team knows how they stand right now

Anonymous said...

the last i saw of the keg was a picture of it......it was under the wheel of a black suv

Atkins, Supergirl and Chris G are rostered players for the Black Widows. They are on the sub list.

lol see get your facts right winners or is that whiners?

NYTEX will have Pointstreak starting next season.

Anonymous said...

Is BAC on his period again?? Where are the results??

Anonymous said...

i like pigs feet..

Anonymous said...

isn't there a letter out that says you can't play on more than one team in one league?

Anonymous said...

I heard that rule doesn't apply to Nate Hodges

Anonymous said...

"NYTEX will have Pointstreak starting next season."

Ha. That's hilarious. Knute promised pointstreak for years at Euless for I league. never happened nor will it ever at NYTEX

Anonymous said...

"Ha. That's hilarious. Knute promised pointstreak for years at Euless for I league. never happened nor will it ever at NYTEX"

Good thing no one at DPSC ever breaks their promises.

Anonymous said...

They wont ever get Point Streak up anywhere that there is soooooooo much movement of players. Therefore DPSC Euless is out of the question.

Well guys and gals...who really cares what the rinks have to say. I will play at a rink because my buddies play on the team...not the rink. I couldn't care less if it was a freekin bowling alley... OH wait thats Ridgly Ice.

Anonymous said...

Just an observation, not trying too hard to stir things up...
Change name of I-League at DPSC - It ain't "I" - now is it? Hasn't been, really, in about three years...
Thoughts?

Anonymous said...

old

Anonymous said...

who cares... really.. who gives a $hit what team has what and which team has whoever.. just go play, if you think your skills are lacking, you will get better by playing more.. shut up about players/rinks/ringers etc.. if you don't like what your local league has to offer, go play softball..

Anonymous said...

As someone who actually joined I-League for some instruction, I have to say that the observation of the "I" in I-League is disappearing is true... I get two instructional classes this (my first) session and the rest is all about playing. What if I didn't know the rules from playing videogames and watching NHL games? There surely needs to be an Instructional League. I heard the next session may not have any classes. Is that true?

Anonymous said...

class is in session everytime i am on the ice

Anonymous said...

"class is in session every time I am on the ice"

That's how the Patriots became so good...they were always playing MAYHEM
