3. Jim Stuckeman- 3 Goals. Borrachos 4-3 loss

Warriors 1 Stickmen 0
Stickmen still remain scoreless on the season and drop to 0-4. The warriors win wasn’t a pretty one, but they’ll take it, as Frank Caspersen gets the goal on a Greg Lamb assist in the first period. After that, pretty much nothing. Warriors throw 17 shots on Stickmen keeper David Blubaugh who really deserved a better fate. Sticks get 9 shots on the night, all paddled away by old fugs keeper Bobby Michaelidis. Warriors continue to be in the hunt for one of the top four playoff spots with three games to play.
Snipers 2 Shockers 1
Snipers have to fight and claw to get the win here against a scrappy shockers squad. Chris Conner gets the Shockers out to an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal. Snipers rally right back on Greg Martinez’s goal in the second period shorthanded, while in the 3rd period it was Brandon Armstrong’s goal that was the difference maker to keep the Snipers within reach of getting back to the keg game. Jesse Henderson after the game said, “Michigan is the greatest school in the history of this great country”. This had nothing to do with hockey or the game in particular, alcohol must have been involved.
Spiders 4 Borrachos 3
Spiders hang on for the 4-3 win in a see saw game that had both team with chances to pull ahead. This one got rough at times with a total of 18 PIM total in the game. The undefeated spiders struck first on a goal from Chris Gallagher to take the early lead. The spiders added to it with a goal from Rahul Sharma later in the period. With 40 seconds left, Jim Stuckeman puts the Borrachos on the board on an unassisted strike. Stuckeman would then tie it in the 2nd on a feed from Jack “where’s zack” Stuckeman. Borrachos thought they had turned the game in their favor when Jim Stuckeman got his third of the night to make it 3-2 Borrachos. However 6 seconds later the game was tied when Gallagher got his second goal of the night to make it 3-3. Whitney Freeman who gave Borrachos defenders fits all night was able to sneak in late in the third to get the go ahead marker on the powerplay. Borrachos had a chance to tie it late, but excellent goaltending by Matt Sexton was enough to keep the spiders perfect record in tact.
Stingers 4 Patriots 3 (SO)
Stingers get their revenge from last season’s patriots’ massacre with a hard fought shootout win. According to sources, Josh Briscoe went into the future and came back as John “B Leaguer” Nickerson. Nickerson gave the Pats a run for their money with coast to coast runs all night. After a Rahul Sharma goal early in the first, Nickerson tied the game late at 1-1. The Patriots then built up a 3-1 lead on Sharma’s second goal of the night and a tally from Steve Benefield. Stingers then raced back on goals from Ronald Widmann and Mike Best, which were 18 seconds apart. The OT had both sides trading shots, including pure robbery by Jesse Gonzales on Jason “Islam” Isham. The shootout had Greg Carter with the winner after the Pats were blanked in the shootout by Total Eclipse, Dana Fenili. Stingers improve their record to 3-0-1 while the Pats still have a strong grip on the fourth and final playoff spot.
Mayhem 2 Ice Holes 1
With their loss to the Patriots earlier in the season still burning in their minds, Mayhem faced a must win game against a team which proved to give them problems last season. Mayhem and the Holes battled epically until late in the second with Greg Mersberger scored with helpers from Tommy Long and Trevor “Patrick Stephane” Lichty. (more on Lichty later). Mayhem would cling to a 1-0 lead when Tommy Harnitchek made the score 2-0 Mayhem with under 2 minutes left in the game. However the story of the night wasn’t Mayhem winning, it was Lichty coming down uncontested and missing the empty net from six feet away ala Patrick Stephane earlier this season for the stars. And just like in that game, sure enough Jared Junker scored with one second left in the period. Ice Holes still lost the game, but proved to be a comedic finish.
Komets 5 Spiders Platinum 2
Komets keep their winning ways up and improve to 3-1 on the season with a convincing win over the shorthanded spiders. Chris Gallagher and Gerald Cappers each get on the second while Mike Gallagher gets on of his own as the Komets headed into the 3rd up 3-0. Sean Kerr and Mike Gallagher added two more goals to have the Komets in a commanding 5-0 spot, however two Whitney Freeman goals late made this contest interesting. Spiders were without three of their big guns, but still maintain a shot at improving as they hold a game in hand over most of the league. Komets’ pick up of Chris Gallagher has been the most valuable transaction thus far.
Blue Devils 3 Brewzers 2 (SO)
Blue Devils again find themselves in the shootout, this week they wind up on top as the victors in this one. Brewzers had the foothold in this one after the first period on a goal from Paul Thurston and Brian FlashBart. The one from FlashBart coming with only two seconds left in the period. The Evil Empire rallied with a second period goal from Chris Zolle and got the equalizer in the third from Dave Loggins. Shots were even in this one seventeen shots on each side going into the shootout. Mark Cameron gets the game winner in the skills competition as he beats Brewzers net minder Mike Moore for the much needed two points to stay atop the Silver Division. After the game, Ray Workman said the Blue Devils organization will be donating several thousand dollars towards Siberian Orphans.
Puckers 5 Leftovers 1
Apparently the Puckers team which was present the first game of the season is just a mere aberration now as they get another huge win and are probably the hottest team in the silver division. After a scoreless first, the puckers went up 2-0 in the second on two goals from Ryan Rintala. Leftovers were able to get a goal from a mysterious number 9 who wasn’t on the score sheet. Puckers continued their decimation with Ken Luechenoff and Rick Gregory scoring. Rintala would also score late in the game for the hat trick. Puckers should be feared by any team they play now.
