In a night of hockey we saw a couple of old comrades returningâ¦
3 Stars
1. Peanut Ratliff- Black Widows: 1 Goal, 2 Assists. Black Widows 4-1 win.
2.
3. Travis Lehr- Patriots: 1 Goal, 1 Assist. Patriots 5-2 win
Goalie of the Week: Jason Lannaman: Black Widows. 13 saves on 14 shots. B.W. 4-2 win.
Stickmen 4 Spiders 1
Stickmen remain in the ranks of the undefeated with a solid win over a Chris Gallagher-less Spiders team. A healthy benched Stickmen squad (15 skaters) was just too much for the Spiders. Jeff Thomas got the scoring started in the first. In the second it was more of the same, stickmen domination. Jesse Henderson and Damon Flores both light the lamp (props to
Black Widows 4 Snipers 1
Black Widows make it two wins in a row with a dominating win over a perplexed snipers squad. BW was up 2-0 after the first on a goal from Peanut Ratliff and Jake Jordan. In the second it was the great Kurt Kresta off a Ratliff assist for the 3-0 lead. Snipers would finally get on the board late in the 2nd on a Greg Martinez goal. In the third the Black Widows would make it 4-1 on a goal from Aaron Schanets. For having only 8 Skaters the Black Widows pretty much dominated this one. We are impressed.
Patriots 5 Puckers 2
Patriots get their bench back after only having 7 skaters last week deal a hurt on the Puckers who fall to 0-2. This one went back and forth for the first period as both teams seemed to trade goal for goal. Patriots struck first on a Dallas Lehr goal, only to have it tied up for the great Ryan Rintala. Patriots then scored on a Travis Lehr goal for a 2-1 lead, only to have it Brett Bolan on a Mike Voglel assist. Patriots then began to pull away as
Ice Holes 3 Blue Devils 2
After reaching the championship game last season, the blue devils have underachieved thus far this season as they fall to 0-2. This game did see the glorious return of Blog Captain Mike Drago returned to I league. The Evil Empire was up 1-0 on an unassisted goal from the great Duncanville Hockey Master Jarrod Roberson. This lead lasted until the third when the Ice Holes turned their offense. Lee Tone scores un-assisted, followed up by Dave Base on a Jason Pilcher assist. Finally with three minutes left in the period, Nichole Palonar scores off a Michael Crook assist for the game winner. Blue Devils scored again on Robersonâs second goal of the night, but not enough as Ice Holes goalie Doug Taylor holds BD scoreless thereafter. Dancing Hippo Ray Workman was a healthy scratch for the game and Todd Smith has begun trade negotiations with three teams. Clearly the Blue Devils are having internal problems; we hope they can work it out.
Komets 3 Warriors 2 (shootout)
Komets get back on the winning track with a shootout win over the Warriors. In a game that saw the return of the great Ryan "Screaming Like a Demon from Hell" Smith, the warriors shot themselves in the foot in this one by taking 10 penalties thus resulting in two Komets powerplay goals. Komets drew first blood on a Sean Kerr goal, however the Warriors came right back with two goals from Craig Newland and Tim Brady for the 2-1 lead. After a scoreless 2nd, Las Kometas scored the equalizer on a Dustin Nation goal late in the third. In the shootout, it would be Rich Duval who scored as the komets get their first win of the season.
Brewzers 4 Leftovers 0
Brewzers absolutely obliterate the leftovers in this one in Bobby Sirkisâ debue as Leftovers head coach. Brewzers get all their goals on rebounds and if it wouldnât have been John Ellis in net, the score would have been FAR worse, he deserves a better fate. Rob Walker scores in the first, for the 1-0 brewzers lead. The second was scoreless as the Leftovers still maintained a shot at making a game, but in the third, the brewzers turned it on. Brit Broostrom, Mackenzie Fenai, and Bobby Jackson all score as the Brewzers cruise to an easy 4-0 win. From Junior Lindamood after the game, "I am only 18, what am I suppost to do?!" From head coach bobby sirkis after the game, "Mayhem will be returning next season. "

Oh come-on... If you blame the warriors loss on 10 penalties (and thusly two Komets PPG's), then you should credit the Komets penalty killing with a short bench (two lines only) since they had nearly as many penalties as the Warriors; and the Warriors failed to take advantage (or couldn't due to the strategic genious of the coaching). The officiating was horrendous Saturday. Anyone want to share their observations on that matter? I got reports from the watching croud that a Warrior put himself into the boards, then got up swinging, and yet no one was ejected. Did we leave I-League rules behind when everyone went to the Gold division?
Has there been a blog started for the NYTEX I-league?
If not, there is a gaping hole in the marketplace for NYTEX specific ringer discussion!
(apologies for bringing this up here - this has always been my one stop hockey resource and I don't know where else to turn!)
im not even sure you should find that info on this site. two things:
1 EULESShockeystop.blogspot.com
2 A renegade info-blog of the EULESS Senior Hockey Leagues
isn't NYTEX in North Richland Hills?
This blog is the reason I stayed at Euless. What good is playing hockey if you can't talk about ringers and how bad Olsen sucked? By the way he really sucked it hard last week.
Becareful, he will give you 2 minutes for poor spelling...
"Olson"
i had a blast in net this week, too bad my rebound control wasn't flawless. that was a great heads-up goal britt, i didn't see you on the post until it was too late. we will be back above .500 next week.
Is'nt Ellis a ringer?
There is no such thing as a ringer goalie for I league. And even so, better a ringer goalie then no goalie at all.
yes, it might be named for EULESS, and that's mostly the information you find here. but i'm glad the blog serves adult players in the whole ne tarrant area. that includes nrichland hills.
it has included nytex news frequently, and i hope that continues.
thanks, bc, for keeping us well-informed of what's going on.
kissass
"yes, it might be named for EULESS, and that's mostly the information you find here. but i'm glad the blog serves adult players in the whole ne tarrant area. that includes nrichland hills."
using this logic, i want to see my stats for all the leagues i play in, both the I and A leagues
pucker up, buttercup.
when i score a goal, you can call me a ringer.
Goalies don't count as ringers and anyone who says they do is just a frustrated ringer who couldn't score.
So... you are saying it takes no skill at all to be a goalie? Or are you saying joe-blow with Goalie Gear is the same as having Martin Brodeur in net?
I think rather than change the size of the net to help get the goals scored per game up in the stratosphere, the NHL should limit goaltender sizes to be around the size of Mr. Hodges (with no gear). That would do it, don'tcha think? Maybe he could block with his big head.
I have spoken to numerous goalies that play all the way from A to I league and they all agree that playing I league is the hardest league to play down in. And they all give the same reason, you never know what's going to happen when someone shoots it.
None of the euless I-league goalies are good enough to be ringrs.
I'm saying that with very few exceptions, goalies don't score goals.
Sounds like someone has trouble scoring against the euless I-leauge goalies.
tending the i-league goal is always fun. you have to play every shot honest because you never can tell if it will wiff, dribble, or rocket into the corner. and defense is so inconsistent, you have to fight off friendly screens, friendly deflections, and where is my defense, defense. but i really love the oppurtunity to face a lot of shots, and occasionaly steal a victory. and who can argue with saturday night.
does anyone know what mayhem sirkis is talking about?
Translation: The Players and Pucks not only sometimes slip past me into the net, but they kinda look the same! My doctor called it "neurological disorder" but I know that life has given me a serious goal to achieve and I shall not be put off by being concerned by the opinion of know-it-all Brain Surgeons. Viva In Glas Co!
i agree 100% with jon. i also play "c1" at grapevine and "d" at both and "i" in euless and every one is its own challenge. pucks always go in its the nature of rec league, the fun is trying to figure out how the stop the different kinds you see in "i". perfect example was rich of the komets shot in the shoot out was a perfect top shelf goal i didnt expect but a great shot and a tip of the cap from me, while a lot of the others shots were "hack and wacks" all game long. bottom line for me is every team in our league has a good goalie and the close games make saturdays a blast!! bobby warrior goalie
It sounds like Ellis has been taking too many shots to the head!
probably...
Wow! Did anyone ever wonder if Chris Gallager actually hurts the Komets more when he plays with them than he helps them by being absent and extending his leadership and charisma across space/time? Twice now he has been missing from ranks of the Faithful at yet his Leadership and his Spirit of Excellence has propelled the Team (no "i" in there) to victory; this time against the Gurrrls of Grace (aka The Black Widows). I think perhaps the suggestion that 'a Komets team without Chris G. is a team without hope' must be an accurate one. How else can you explain their consistant and gritty wins? It's the very spirit of Chris G. reaching out across the void!
You might want to check how the Spiders are doing without him...
This just in - Ringers exist in NYTEX. The games aren't watched by anyone - Neither team in my game had a coach - no rink official "monitoring" anything. Just a zit faced kid keeping score and olson.
We played against a C leauger from Euless.
Did you honestly expect something different at NYTEX?
As long as a player pay$, he will be welcome in any league on any rink--be it DPSC, NYTEX, or where ever...
This isnt a moral/ethical/legal issue, this is a MONEY issue. No rink in their right mind is going to refuse a players money.
Ultimately, its the players personal decision as to whether the league he plays in is a "fit" for his talent level.
Some guys will continue to play "down" just to look good and, almost forgot, to make YOU better.
Enjoy the journey!
