Preview: Week 7

Must Win week is here for teams still vying for playoffs. Losers can go hide in a corner while the winners will be exalted.

Puckers vs. Shockers 6:30
Puckers are in need of a win to maintain their chase of the Title game. If the puckers team that has played the last few games shows up, it should be no problem. Shockers though had an all out offensive assault last week, we’ll see if Otto Bielss can roll another hat trick this week.

Leftovers vs. Brewzers 7:30
Brewzers should make quick work of a spunky leftovers squad, however if the leftovers are going to win a game this season, this would be the trap game. Jeff Vaughan says bring a flask to this game. Jen “S to the crappy” Leonard is said to have taken her vitamins before this one in search of her first hat trick.

Komets vs. Snipers 7:45
A huge game for the Komets as they will have to do battle with the Ken Halford goonery. Komets won a meeting between these two last seasons, but much has changed since that last meeting. Canadians are fired up about the Jeff Vaughan vs. Chris Gallagher matchup in this one. From Komets own Sean Kerr, “The Snipers are a fake, a fraud, a phony. I can’t believe this team won the keg last season.” Ouch, harsh. Snipers can get back into the keg game with a win, believe it or not.

Spiders-Plat vs. Fugaweez 8:45
Fugaweez are on a roll, and no thanks to epic goaltending. Rumor has it the Spiders will be shorthanded in this one. A Fugs win would continue to make the silver division interesting for another week. Mark Gragg is probably the most underrated players in the Silver Division. Fear him…and the New Orleans Saints.

Warriors vs. Borrachos 9pm
The Borrachos have found their groove and are looking to bury the dagger in the Warrior’s postseason hopes. From Warriors' ringer Dallas “TO” Lehr about the game, “Many can drink, but only one will win.” The Borrachos should take care of businesses if they play as well as they did last game. Super Ringer Sean Haley will be chugging beers as he skates up the ice. This will be the first time these two teams have met.

Spiders vs. Mayhem 10pm
After suffering losses to the Patriots and the Stingers, the season is on the line for the defending Gold Keg champs as they face a must win against the Spiders. The Spiders have held their own against the Gold Elite teams. However, John Pinnard should be making a return for Mayhem. From head coach Bobby Sirkis, “When I returned from my vacation, we practiced non stop for 83 hours, that will teach my boys the price of losing.” Spiders will also be without some of their D, which could be a problem against the Conner Brothers.

Stingers vs. Stickmen 10:15
The great Josh Briscoe will once again lead his mighty group of warriors into battle, this time, against a downtrodden Stickmen team. From Briscoe about the game, “If I was the stickmen, I wouldn’t even bother showing up.” (note: he really said this, not the fictional Briscoe) Polarizing. Stingers can clinch the top seed with a win, and they way they are rolling, it is debatable if anyone can beat this team of God. Stickmen will send Alex Eysermans as their secret weapon, but even his greatness might not be enough. Stingers underwear is now on sale in the proshop.

Patriots vs. Ice Holes 11:15
Patriots still are rolling with a glorious win last week. The defensive holy trinity will be unleashed yet again for the pats, and we expect nothing but mighty hockey. The Ice holes will have to put up at least 3-4 goals for a win Daniel “Scoreboard” Barr will make his return in this game, will the Skupiens be able to shut their D league teammate down? The Millennium Falcon will make the Kessel run in this showdown. For what its worth, the Pats shut the Holes down 3-0 last season. The Pats have already secured a playoff spot, as have the Spiders and Stingers, so one wonders how these teams will play.

That assumes you can catch one of them....not likely since those who whine tend to be those who cannot skate!

"We will be having Adult Stick and Puck very soon at NYTEX Stay tuned for more info!"

Thanks. There are very few options for stick & puck in the area, unless you want to get up at the crack of dawn on a weekday.

It would be great to have some stick and puck times, mixed in with pickup games during the weeknights.

Couldn't agree more. Hell, Even I, one of THE laziest I-League guys I know, would go... Please keep us in touch and keep up the awesome work doing this blog. It's the place everyone goes for the real info, transcends rink owners, etc.

I saw a true beginning I leaguer last Saturday night. I mean the guy walked more than he skated. He was a true moving pylon. These sightings are rare in Euless.

Adult leagues have started at NYYEX "D" League and "C" league for now! will have more later!!!!!! FYI any of you old timers thinking they can sneak coolers into the rink better think twice! the operations manager will throw you out of the rink and you will loose your league fees! this comes directly from the owners! there is no alcohol or tobbacco use allowed in the building! If they catch you drinking or dipping they will escourt you out of the buliding!!!!!!!!

as a spectator to the Borrachios/Warriors game on Sat, I have to say that was the worst game I ever saw. The B-holes probably had 5 ringers who had no business being on I-league Ice. This wouldn't have been a big deal, seeing as how everyone has ringers these days, but these guys were completely selfish with the puck, and seemed more interested in outskating the warriors to the other end of the ice for the goal than actually playing a game of hockey. Not only that, but these same ringers turned into complete thugs during the second period. I saw borrachos players push the opposing goalie, blindside someone with a punch from behind, and hit someone between the shoulderblades with their stick. I guess you guys have never seen a game of real hockey to see how to fight with honor. You don't punch people from behind. You throw the gloves and helmet and tap the guy to let him know it's on. Instead we got to see a crappy version of 1970's american league ice brawling. As if that wasn't enough, they turned into whining pewling babies everytime a ref made a call they didn't like. Hey guys! You were winning 4-0 against a team you clearly outmatched. Shut your freaking pie holes and play hockey. You should be ashamed of the way you dishonored yourselves, your teammates, and the great game of hockey. Oh.. and before you guys try to flame me for being a disgruntled family member of a warrior or something. I went to that game to see the Borrachos play that night. I wanted you to win. Unfortunately, by the end of the game, I found myself cheering for the other team. Do yourselves a favor and clean up your act.

Borrachos ... no need to respond ... thanks.

There are two sides to every story, Chief. It's not like the Borrachos decided to thug it out after building a 3-0 lead.

For the Warriors, this was a big game that had playoff implications. Tempers flared on BOTH sides.

I guess the Warriors did not come out to Plaaayyyyyy!!!!!

Rock me.

whoever keeps saying "rock me" is gay.

"seemed more interested in outskating the warriors to the other end of the ice for the goal than actually playing a game of hockey"

hmmmmm.......isn't that what you are supposed to do? maybe we should sit in a circle and sing cumbaya.

i would agree, except the point of a ringer is to help the team. You're not doing the team any favors by that kind of behaviour, only yourself. There is a reason why Stukeman has 11 goals and 0 assists. he is a selfish player. If he would realize his role and pass the puck every now and again, maybe the real I-leaguers on his team would improve. As it stands now, his team is clueless in the offensive zone without a ringer there to make all the shots for them. The I in I-league stands for "instructional." Help your team become better players, don't rack up the score and then start fights and cry about every referee call that doesn't go your way. Maybe then you won't find 4 of your players ejected from the game.

Yes they had some damn good skaters, but as I told the team "it is what it is, just play the game". The only thing I took objection to was the bumping [brushing what ever you wanna call it] of our goalie when they were up 3-0 and on a power play. I do have to say though the refs were not having a good night. I have never seen them kick people out of a face off in an I league game. Once they booted #41 for saying some one to hustle and line up... The Borrachos are good group of guys despite how many "ringers" or good players they have on their squad. I said to some of the players on both teams during a play that the officiating was going to let this game get violent fast and it did. If any one was upstairs they did see the Warriors and Borrachos all drinking and toasting together. I do agree maybe we should of went to the penalty box though to do the toast...

Anonymous said...

Don't get me wrong, I am not here to bash the fact that the borrachos had ringers, but rather the behaviour of those ringers and the rest of the team while they were on the ice. I saw the "bump" on the goalie, and I don't know if I would classify skating up and hitting the goal after the save and the whistle a "bump." I would call it a cheap shot, and that player deserved what he got.

First of all our guy skated past the goalie and only brushed him when pushed by one of their players. Secondly our player was getting his calfs slashed reperatedly where he had no padding so he took care of business. then their goalie (ask him)tried to take his head off with a two handed swing of his stick, something that is just not called for. So what were you doing watching us play anyway. You say that you know hockey which you don't. Hockey is a rough game and the game was not that bad. Ask the Warriors we all laughed and drank together after the game so what is the big deal.

By the way everyone our team got / always get equal time .

Anonymous said...

I don't mind a good clean hit or a mistake in a game, but punching someone from behind is just cheap. If you're getting your calves slashed and you feel you need to do something about it, throw your gloves and helmet and initiate the fight. Just don't whine like a little girl when you get tossed. This is I-league. The fact that you guys got along after the game has little to do with your conduct on the ice, which was ridiculous. I am picking on the Borrachios a little more because I was so disappointed in them. They could be a decent I-league team, but last weekend didn't show it. Sure the scoreboard was 5-0, but a close clean game is better than one that was filled with fights and ejections. After all.... What would Josh Briscoe do?

Anonymous said...

I missed last week but it doesn't surprise me to see the Stuckeman's causing problems out there

Anonymous said...

He would probably get a concussion.

Anonymous said...

Briscoe suffered head trauma in the Stingers vs Stickmen game from Big Joe
Go Stickmen - the real champs!

Anonymous said...

the stickgirls are lucky the stingers played half ass. Its what happens when you make it to the playoffs with 3 weeks left to go in the season.

"when you make it to the playoffs with 3 weeks left to go in the season."

i still can't beleive 2 things....the i league has playoffs and someone considers a 12 week session a season

Anonymous said...

Yup there was some stone cold thuggin in the Warriors/Borrachos tilt. But not as much as there has been whining about on this blog.

Now where is that coke...

"There is a reason why Stukeman has 11 goals and 0 assists. he is a selfish player."

I know....it's my fault for passing to a wide open winger when the goalie is 15 feet out of the net. I love how people claim to watch hockey and have no idea what happened on the ice. Tsk Tsk Tsk

Now for whoever went to see us play and rooted for the Warriors, that's fine. We don't play for anyone but ourselves. As for ringers, has anyone looked at the whole teams stats? Look at how many of our guys have no points at all. I expect better from hockey people. I can't wait for NyTex......I'm sure it'll be different there :/

borrachos are in the bottom half of their league. so how can anyone complain about their ringers?

Anonymous said...

It is rediculous how some people don't see both sides of the story.. First I dont think that the Borrachos "ringers" had all the shots in this game, that sounds pretty hard to do. Second, people in Dallas don't know hockey and should not think they do with the comments that they make. Third, #7 was a scum and deserved everything that he got, if he would've turned around I still would've punched him in the face for intentionally trying to hurt me and two more of the players on my team, thats not hockey, especially beer league. The worst thing that happened out there was the goalie taking a two hand swing with his stick. Luckily he was man enough to apologize after the game. If people on this blog can't handle the way this game is played go back to rooting for the Cowgirls and watching womens softball. Otherwise bring your a$$ on the ice and play real hockey.

This Bullshit begs the question? Are these guys still playing or did they get suspended? If they didn't then why not? I am so glad I have left the Stars center to work at NYTEX! I can promise you this! That kind of crap will not be tolerated by the staff at NYTEX when the "I" league starts! You bring that kind of BS with you and they will toss you out on your ass and not refund your money!!!! you idiots are taking all the fun out of the game!

Anonymous said...

who is the idiod that keeps posting for NYTEX like he is their representative? he's probably some douche zam driver or something.

Backslider said...

I would think that if Nytex was progressing as well as I (used to) hope they were, they would have no need to haunt the Euless I-League blog. If it's a legitimate NYTEX rep posting, then get thee AWAY! Go work on that grotesque failure of a website. Go promote your facility without insulting your prospective customers / players. You're doing no credit whatsoever to the NYTEX establishment, and you're doing it with a poor grasp on the fundamentals of the English language.

And to that other guy - Yeah yeah, we don't know how to play hockey 'cause we live in Dallas. Eff us for trying. Some people have been haunting the I-League for multiple sessions, and I know that's irritating, but others are just starting out. I'm just proud that we can have some input on a sport that's not oversaturated in this area, and maybe go so far as to enjoy playing it.

Back the eff off and leave this blog/league/rink to those of us who, despite our failure to know anything about "real hockey," seem to have a pretty good time, save for a few off-kilter Olsen calls here and there. Go to NYTEX. Go to Fort Worth Ice. Go to the women's softball game and let me know what the score is afterwards. Go to the Whataburger bathroom and take it round 'back from the next fry cook who walks in.

You suck. I love Euless I-League Hockey. The Backslider says FECK OFF.
