Weekly D-League Update

We're sorry to have missed last week's post, but we were busy stuffing calories down our throats. No, we didn't eat the entire apple pie. We left a piece for others to share as they saw fit. As it turns out, we hate holidays because a bunch of kids take over our rinks. Bah, humbug.

Highlights from action during the week of Nov. 13:

Hitmen 6, Blue Devils 3: This wasn't as close as the score indicates. The Hitmen had their way with the BDs. How solid was this victory? Thirteen different Hitmen were credited with goals or assists. None had more than a point.

Wolverines 6, Phantoms 1: Bobby Sirkis and Jason Isham each had two goals. Hey guys, tell the scorekeepers how to spell your names.

Yokels 5, Ice Dogs 4 (OT): All the Yokels' goals were by the Hurst Boys, Jason and Jeff. Jason had four goals in regulation on assists from Jeff (two others got credited for second assists). Jeff had the game-winner in the last minute of overtime.

Kings 4, Beerflyers 1: Moe Rodriguez scored twice as the Kings turned it on in the first period with four goals. We didn't see this one, but it must have been some great goaltending by the Kings' Scott Lawson. He faced 39 shots and gave up only the one, by Chris Ratzer in the third. The Kings had just 17 shots. It was the Beerflyers' first loss.

Misfits 4, Hockey Team 3 (shootout): This one went deep into the shootout. More than once through the order, that's what we heard. Anyway, the winner was scored by Chadwick Rice. Jolly good, Chaddy. It was the first defeat for Hockey Team, and Misfits emerged as the last unbeaten, untied team. Scott Skurdalsvold had two goals and an assist for HT.

Mid Cities 4, Stickmen 1: This one looks to have been over by the third period. Matt Vinson had a pair for the Mid Cities boys. Steve McCollister might have had an off night for Stickmen. The four goals he surrendered came on just 10 shots.

This week's games (all gametimes ... too f-in late):
Wednesday
Blue Devils vs. Phantoms
Yokels vs. Mid Cities
Thursday
Stickmen vs. Kings
Friday
Hitmen vs. Ice Dogs
Wolverines vs. Hockey Team
Misfits vs. Beerflyers (should be the game of the week)

See you on the ice, dawgs.
