Need goalie gear?

A gentleman came by the Sunday morning drop-in game with some fliers advertising lots of goalie gear. He's giving up the fine art of goaltending.

He offers:

-- A full set of adult gear (Heaton protector, pants, cup, Cooper neck protector, Ferland pads, Beaver mask and CCM bag) for $350.
-- A set of 36" white Vaughn Legacy pads that were made for Roman Turek the year the Stars won the cup. They're embroidered with his name. $750
-- Size 9 1/2 CCM goalie skates in "very good condition," with accessories. $45.
-- Assorted stuff: Ferland lefty blocker, lefty sticks, etc.

Contact: George Whitaker at 817-468-5981 or email mikeflags@yahoo.com

If anyone else has extra gear they want to swap or sell, drop me a line at blogcaptain@yahoo.com.

Not So Fast ...

That's right: The blog is unretiring. Hey, Michael Jordan did it.
Our savior is BC3. We'll leave his identity a mystery unless he chooses to identify himself. He's an I-League player who stepped forward last week and said he wanted to try this.
We think he'll do great.
Everyone please welcome him aboard. His first post should be forthcoming in a few days.

Stars Game on a Whim

Yes, you can get into a sold-out Stars game at the last minute. I tried it Saturday for the Red Wings game. Got on the train and went down with a few bucks in my pocket but no ticket. The first wino-looking scalper I approached at the AAC would sell them only two at a time.

Half hour before game time, I go to the box office. I flash my StarCenter VIP card and say I want a half-price ticket, best they have. A man with a clipboard standing behind the ticket vendor says the half-price deal (did you know we get those?) doesn't apply on Saturdays, but he'll cut me some slack. They sell me a half-price ticket for $49.50.

I sit here, 10 rows off the glass:

Too bad the Stars didn't show up.

We're Toast

Happy 2008, everyone.

I have a New Year's announcement: Effective after the upcoming I-league playoff, this hitching post will go dormant.

For the past two years, BAC and I have worked, more or less successfully, to build a community around adult hockey in Euless. It has served as a watercooler and for fellowship and fun.

We have enjoyed it, and all of you.

It occurs to me almost every time I take the ice: Sure, some of us are jackasses, but the vast majority of people who play hockey are pretty cool, eh? We're lucky to have each other.

So, thanks for the memories.

If anyone out there wants to pick up the responsibility for this blog, send an email to the addresses listed on this page. Tell me why you want to do it and what experience you have with blogging. Show me you can write halfway decent. Maybe I'll turn it over to you.

Assuming no takers, this blog will be done. I'll leave it up for anyone who needs the handy-dandy links.

Cheers,

BC

Game Times...
