Exercise for Earlybirds

I see a lot of bitchin' on this site about I-league ringers. Well, there's a lot rink management could do about ringers, but let's not hold our collective breath. A much better approach is to improve your damned game! The only way to do that is to skate more often.

There's a new weekly drop-in that's safe for I- and D-League players. It's 7 a.m.-8:45 a.m. Wednesdays at Farmers Branch StarCenter. In our initial week, we had six or eight guys. Hang in there fellas; It takes a while to get a new game established.

I couldn't make it this morning but I'll try to work this into my schedule on a weekly basis. THere are a few guys who work graveyard at Southwest Airlines who usually attend the stick and puck at that hour - they don't play in an i-league because they say "they don't know what they're doing". Try to encourage those guys to keep showing up now that it's a drop in, they've had that time slot as a stick and puck for a while now.

We had six guys this morning -- not bad for the first time. Everybody seemed gung-ho to keep showing up. Spread the word: This is a drop-in where I- and D-leaguers don't have to be afraid.

Anybody know a goalie who might want to go?

HELL YEA BOSS!!!
(gives the captain an exploding high five)
ringers are EVERYWHERE in hockey, in every league, and in every rink.

In D league, there are guys who should be playing C or B.

The story is the same.
Get over it, Get Better, Then you too can be a ringer who owns lesser skaters!

We don't mean to say ringers are good, mind you.

But, as long as you have to play with them (and, you always will, no matter the level), you might as well try and play to their level. Skating up with more talented players is one way to get better. It works.

So get your ass to the rink!

Well Most folks I know have a job that starts at 8 am. The rinks should hold more at night like the thrusday night at euless 11:00pm. If euless could do 2 of those a week and famers branch do one that would be great

Farmers Branch may as well be 100 freakin miles away for me. But all this talk about ringers makes me want to get more ice time somewhere. Frankly, I don't care about ringers, I just like the 18 - 22 puck hogs that some times show up at drop ins - you know ones - they take 4 to 5 minute shifts, never pass and sometimes they forget the no-check rule - but then sometimes I forget the no-check rule too...
