Saturday results: Keg Matchups Set

The two Stanley Keg matchups are set for next Saturday. It's the Stickmen vs. the Wolverines in Group A and Brewzers vs. the Blue Devils in Group B. Game times might be determined, but we're not apprised. More to come on that. Stay tuned.

Summaries from Saturday night ...

Patriots 4, REDRUM 3: Rahul Sharma scored twice, including a goal with 40 seconds left in the third period that killed Redrum's chances of overtaking the Blue Devils in Group B. Kyle Drumm and Josh Piccirillo also scored for the Patriots. Sharma had an assist to go with his goals. For Redrum, scores came from Mike Whaley, Tony Barone and Kurt Moore.

Ice Holes 3, Blue Devils 1: Greg Durante scored twice, including an empty netter in the final minute, and goalie David "Goose" Giesecke was impenetrable in the Ice Holes' victory. Defenseman Bruce Nicholas scored from the point for the BD's, who backed into the Stanley Keg title game despite the defeat. Blue Devils' fearless leader Greg "The Drill" Sargent is believed to be the first rookie coach in I League history to lead his team into a final.

Fugaweez 3, Snipers 1: Eric Johnson scored and assisted on another goal for Fugaweez. Danny Grimes had a pair of assists. For the Snipers, Tom Buckner had a second-period goal, assisted by Kyle Largent.

Stingers 3, Spiders 1: Greg Carter had a goal and assist for the Stingers. Also scoring: Scott Childress and Scott Castleberry. For the shorthanded Spiders (skating eight), it was Heather Gray on a Christine Kilmer assist.

Stickmen 6, Spuds 1: Jeff Thomas scored twice in leading the Stickmen over the winless (and, we hear, imploding) Spuds.

Phantoms 2, Brewzers 2 (shootout tie): Each team scored once in the shootout, leaving this one in a sister-kisser. Before the shootout, it was the Phantoms' Jason Neal scoring on a Scott Alcon assist in the game's first 30 seconds. The Brewzers couldn't even it up until Kenny Fain's goal with 2:20 left in the game.

Wolverines 6, Puckers 0: Self-described hockey whore Rahul Sharma pulled the hat trick for Wolverines. Bryan Conner added a pair of goals.

Yes the Spuds will implode. Evidently the TC will have to find another rink
